Mrs. Texan is doing well at her job and seems to enjoy it. She hired on as a temp and many of them don't stick around long. The big boss pulled her aside yesterday and told her that she was going to work in another remote area for a while. Layoffs were happening today and he didn't want anybody to resent the fact that she was keeping her job. Mrs Texan kept her mouth shut and the layoffs happened. I think it was mostly the temp employees who were lazy tht got the axe. They use the temp agencty to hire on a trial basis and it makes laying them off less messy. I hope they hire Mrs Texan outright. I assume there would also be a pay raise.
Besides character and work ethic, it's funny that what her employer finds so valuable is that she is one of the few who knows how to drive a car with a manual transmission. It's a lost skill on the vast majority of millennials. We call the manual transmission the millennial antitheft device.
I'm getting lazy and tired of spelling out Mrs. Texan all the time. From now on, I will refer to her as MT.

I'm really glad that she likes her job so much and is so well appreciated. Congrats to you both. Will she have to be away from home to work in this remote area?

No. Its just isolated from the rest of the crew. Her and another lady are doing 30 day testing on the longer term storage vehicles. They make sure the battery and tires are still good and make sure the cars still run.
