I remember the terrorist attack in Garland TX. A private group held a Draw Mohammad contest and it was advertised nationwide. The management of the venue hired Garland police officers to provide security. The event drew protesters and counter protesters. All was peaceful until 2 nutcases tried to shoot up the place. They managed to shoot a security guard in the leg. A Garland police officer stepped from behind his car and killed both of the terrorists in less than 5 seconds with his pistol. This was one of the initial stories after the incident.

They kept his identity secret, but he dropped them both with the same magazine. They are issued Glock 17s, which have a 17 round capacity of 9mm. I think he was about a 5-7 year veteran and is into competitive pistol shooting.

Im not a fan of the Glock, rather have a Beretta or a 1911 colt government model in 45ACP not as many rounds but when you do hit them, they stay hit lol

I hear you. I keep a Glock around because there are lots of accessories available, large capacity, easy to operate, and very dependable. I carry a Kimber Micro 9. It's basically a miniature 1911 in 9mm. It weighs less than a pound, has a 4 lb single action trigger, tritium night sights, and has been very dependable and accurate for a small gun. I keep Hornady Critical Defense ammo in my guns. The hollow point ammo in 9mm compares pretty well with .45ACP in ballistic tests and it works better in a tiny gun.

The kimber is a good handgun for concealed carry, and the Glock is good for the less experienced in high pressure situations , But ballistic comparisons dont always transfer to kills in a shoot out,

""WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE SHOOTOUT ON APRIL 11, 1986
During the shootout, Special Agent Jerry Dove fired a lightweight, high-velocity 9mm round that struck murder/armored car robbery suspect Michael Lee Platt in the upper right arm.

The round severed Platt’s brachial artery, passing through the arm into his chest and almost entirely through his right lung. Doctors later determined that this round was not survivable. However, the round stopped just short of entering Platt’s heart/aorta, only penetrating his torso about six or seven inches. ""

After receiving this wound, Platt initiated a devastating attack upon the surrounding FBI agents, killing two (including Agent Dove) and severely wounding two more. Platt was killed at the end of the gunfight, but not before unleashing deadly mayhem. If Agent Dove’s bullet had entered Platt’s heart, he would have perished quickly, before launching his life-ending assault.""

Most FBi agents go through their entire careers without firing their weapons on the job as they are not a tactical force, when you do need to you want to make sure the perp stays down , the 45 hits harder than a 9 mil, That shot would have killed Platt if the agent had hit him with a 45

If I were a cop and ran toward trouble, I might opt for the .45, but since my primary response is to avoid confrontation, I like my 9 for light weight and ease of concealment. A .45 wouldn't do me much good if it was heavy enough that I didn't always wear it.

Its horses and courses for sure Tex, as a personal carry I like your little Kimber Micro 9, In NZ you can own a handgun but only if you are a member of a pistol club, The company I work for was owned by a guy that had a license to manufacture firearms and we used to do a lot of shooting in the workshop, he died a few years back, around twenty years ago a mate of mine owned a few handguns and he was a very reckless individual , we where in a bar one night and he grabbed my hand and put it under his jacket, he was packing a S&W 357 mag revolver , He died in a car crash a couple of years after that and the cops found a 9 mil Browning Hi Power on him, I really liked the guy for all his short comings

I can carry legally in 33 states. I have a cousin who can carry everywhere except maybe in prisons. He works for the BATFE. He always has the best stories when I see him.
