Who will sign on to the NBN?
1. All those stuck with wireless broadband due to Telstra's neglect aka 'pair gain.'
2. Those still stuck with dialup and there are still plenty, Thanks to Telstra's neglect and high broadband prices
1 + 2 alone is > 16%
3. Those paying $30-40 for ADSL plus $29.95 or more for a landline per month. One bill for $49.95/month or less is quite a saving
4. Those wanting or needing high speed without paying $275/week. Think of all the IQs of this world enjoying their HD porn.
Then imagine the takeup when the speed is 1Gbps, let alone 2 or 4. And then the NBN prices drop and takeup increases further.

Mobile broadband take-up will lead fixed line 'in five years', 4G Summit told
MOBILE internet users will outnumber those of fixed internet users in Australia in five years time, according to speakers at the 2010 Australian 4G Summit.
The conference got under way yesterday in Sydney and is an exploratory look at the future of communications in Australia.
Attendees yesterday were told the annual growth rate of mobile internet devices has reached almost 30 per cent, eight times greater than that of traditional web connections.
But the “unlimited” possibilities unlocked by the evolution of wireless internet were not being fully explored, said country manager of Qualcomm Robert Hart.
“How far those developments can go is only limited by our imaginations,” Mr Hart said.

5. All Telstra's copper customers.
Wireless sucks. It can never approach the bandwidth of FTTH. That seems to threaten some people who seem to have become wedded to wireless and see the NBN as a threat instead of a HUGE opportunity. Then again, the dinosaurs once ruled the earth, but not since tens of millions of years ago tho. Good old Deepshit is proselytizing wireless—from his ADSL2 connection! bwahahaha!
PS the Cameron govt is introducing a FTTH scheme for the UK. FTTH is where real bandwidth is at.

“Mr Quigley said NBN Co’s three-year business case — which was to be delivered to the government by May 31 but NBN Co has been granted an extension to factor in the $11bn deal with Telstra — would show that the fibre-optic network would come at a cost to the government of below $30bn. The rest of the money required to build the network will come from debt markets.”
