Re: Day/Night Owls Chit Chat
I just had a great Thanksgiving holiday visit with my granddaughter in Kansas. There were a few businesses shut down from covid in Wichita, but most were open and the girls went out shopping and Mrs Texan even got her nails done. Thursday night, we played "Cards Against Humanity". The 9 of us went out to eat at Chili's on Friday night. Wichita had an 8 person limit at their tables, but the baby wasn't eating table food, so they let it slide. My daughter in law is living with another military couple while my son is in Korea. They have a 4 week old daughter and I got to rock her to sleep a couple of times. So I got to be a surrogate grandfather also. My granddaughter couldn't stand to see Mrs Texan holding the baby without her help. Mrs Texan usually ended up with 2 girls in her lap. We had a spiral ham, smoked turkey, oven baked turkey, corn casserole(with jalapenos), dressing, several pies, and other stuff I can't remember.
With 4 adults to drive, the 6 1/2 hour trip wasn't too bad.

Sounds like you had a great thanks giving Tex, I had to google spiral ham lol, it would appear that they do spiral cut hams in NZ , I personally like to buy a ham and glaze it myself ,It takes around 3 hours in the oven to heat it right through, depending on the size, I use a pineapple juice ,Jim Beam, cracked pepper , brown sugar, garlic and a clove mixture for the glaze , and I get to drink the JB that is left over, It a win win situation lolTexan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 4:18 amI just had a great Thanksgiving holiday visit with my granddaughter in Kansas. Six and a half hours is a long way to drive for a drink lol, I guess I dont love my relatives enough for that kind of road trip, from where I live in Auckland that would pretty much get me to either end of the North Island , NZ has two main Islands, The North and South Island which keeps in nice and simple lol

We smoked our ham. Most of the meal was cooked before we arrived.
6 1/2 hours is nothing to see a grandchild. We were gone 5 days, so its not like 13 hours of driving in 2 days. I try not to tell people on the internet I'm out of town until after the fact.

Doesn't hurt to be safe, Its all relative to the size of the country you live in, and Texas is probably bigger than NZ, petrol is $8 a gallon in NZ

My mom fell off of a ladder while decorating their Christmas tree. The tree broke her fall and she only was bruised up. She is 74 with back issues, so that's a blessing.
