I planted some red and white pansies for Christmas cheer. The 'white' ones opened this morning and they aren't white at all. They are purple and white striped and I am NOT happy lol.

Home from work. Now I get to do some plumbing and install our new fridge. The joys of home ownership.

No Aunt Linda news. I'm sure she will go to a rehab center soon and hopefully we can visit her. It was Aunt Linda and a lady friend of mine who encouraged Mrs Texan and I to become pen pals 30 years ago.
The only installation we do with a fridge here is take it out of its box and plug it in lol
Mine has a built in ice maker and filtered water dispenser, so it also requires a water line. My current water line and the valve that feeds it are 24 years old. It all needs to be replaced. I have to shut off the house water to replace the valve. I'm using a shark bite fitting, so it shouldn't be hard. The new braided stainless feed line should last better as well. I'm just glad I didn't get a "smart fridge" with a monitor and wifi connection. I don't need to see the weather and emails on my fridge every morning. That's just something else to break.

It's done. The valve was deep inside a cabinet and I had to work one handed. Both fridges were too big to fit through the front door without removing the house front door. The new fridge is 28 cubic feet. We had to rearrange furniture twice to get them through the house. Because the fit through the door was so tight, we had to shrink wrap beach towels to the front of the new fridge to prevent damage coming through the threshold. We had tools and wrapping material all over the house and had to clean up and I have to get up at 0545 for work in the morning. Sometime tomorrow I have to haul the old fridge to the recycling center. At least they pay me for the scrap metal instead of charging me to dump the fridge. I'll probably get $5 for it.

Instead of in door ice and water dispenser, I opted for the ice maker and ice tub in the slide out freezer drawer and an automatically refilled water pitcher in the door of the fridge. In door dispensers are usually the first things to break and I'm trying to keep it simple without losing all convenience.

I'd love to have an ice maker in the fridge. I never have room for ice blocks in the freezer.

I just got a phone call from my youngest at school. He has an interview for an internship at a large truck mechanic shop near our house. My neighbor used to be the fleet manager there and he pulled some strings to get my son an interview. This will help him get more experience, some money in his pocket, and a good line on a good full time job when he graduates. $$$

Correction. He has 2 interviews. He got one on his own and another from our neighbor pulling strings. I think this kid is going to do alright. He's presentable, honest, trustworthy, and hard working. Once his foot is in the door, the sky is the limit.

Mrs Texan may start her first job in 25 years. Details to come once it is for certain. She wanted me to buy her a Jeep Wrangler and I told her that we will get her one when she gets a job to pay for it. (We are trying to save to buy land to build a house.) She needs to decide between the ute or the suv.

Good luck to your son Tex that's awesome. I'd rather have the land and be building a house than the car though.
