I can't believe anyone would steal a pot plant. There are so many crazies out there now though I really shouldn't be surprised at anything anymore.
The plant was just about dead and the concrete pot weighed about 40 kg or more. This 62 year old hispanic woman parked her new Toyota in the middle of the alley, opened the back hatch, and lifted with all of her might to get the pot loaded. This was all about 4 meters directly in front of a 5k camera. The pictures were absolutely perfect. She claimed that she thought the pot was garbage, so the police let her off with a warning after she returned the pot. My mom didn't want her arrested over a pot, but she did want it back.

My mom found her identity and address and gave it to the police when she filed the report. She has a friend who sells cars and can access the vehicle data base to get the identity of the owner by the license plates. Then she used that to access the county tax accessor data base to find an alternate address near my parent's house. My mom used to use that data base for her work with construction services of the local school system and still has access. She may could have gotten into trouble, but she obviously wasn't going to take the law into her own hands and harass the woman. What are the police going to do to a 74 year old woman?
It's a growing epidemic and it's sad. It's more than sad really. It's frightening. I moved back to the city for a reason and that reason has now well and truly served its purpose and I'll be leaving again.

I was proud of my parents when their video footage was broadcast on TV. These 3 idiots started at an ex-girlfriends house and continued for about 2-3 hours driving around Dallas suburbs with a pellet pistol shooting out car windows. My parents video showed them in the act of shooting the back window of my mom's Honda van. My parents video identified them and they were turned in by their mother. They confessed to breaking 54 car windows and police came down hard on them.

I read with concern all that you have said of your parents situation.... quite terrible.
That their surveillance system has identified so much local crime and has been used by police to solve crime is deeply concerning for all of you.

Now I know you were raised a God fearing decent soul and based on the way you speak of your parents... you got this way of being from them.
And, i assume you were raised in a happy, suburban, working class, conservative home, surrounded by like minded souls.

So I ask myself... Where have all these like minded souls gone? Who are replacing the people?
The decent people are moving away from the big cities. The big cities are imploding under the weight of the leftist government and people expecting a handout from that government. Crime in Dallas is out of control and I will never move back to Dallas County as long as I live. Not even my parents house, and it's the nicest house for miles. It's not the place I grew up in.
What is the median income where your parents live... My thinking is that the area may have experienced an economic decline. Perhaps as a part of the growth in MacMansions in new estates...
Perhaps the level of debt is too great for the community... which leads to crime
Perhaps, it would be best if I let you speculate given you know more than me... :?

that sounds like you think you have to be poor to do a crime... we live in very greedy times now and I seriously think its getting worse.

I agree we borrow far more than we should....... why.... because we have the MUST HAVE AT ALL COSTS syndrome.. I dont have a credit card..but I know someone who has 5 .. I cant say as that person is any happier than myself..but she seems to wear it like a badge of honor.. and I think she feels sorry for me...lolol

I can't say with any certainty why things have gone downhill in Dallas, but I have my opinions.

Politics from both major parties have shifted to the left, especially with the Democrats. It was Kennedy who once said "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country." I think Kennedy would be considered a conservative by today's standards. 60 years ago, people knew that they had to work if they ever expected to have an acceptable standard of living and a retirement. Government has stepped in to provide for people and it only costs a small tax increase and your vote. Now, the traditional family is not politically correct. We have to support gay marriage and single moms with bastard kids and no father in sight to hold accountable. We are supposed to allow our kids to decide what sex they want to be and we are supposed to let the government provide the hormones and surgeries to make it happen. It's absolute lunacy.

This all started in the US with federal welfare. Charity wasn't perfect, but the able bodied were welcome to starve if they were too lazy to work. The ill and infirmed found sympathy and most found what they needed if family couldn't help. I worry that most people my age won't have children who are able to care for my generation. Survival skills have been disappearing. Gardening, canning food, dehydrating, sewing, vehicle maintenance, basic construction and maintenance, are all becoming something that is hired out to professionals who charge a lot more than you would spend if you did these things yourself.

They used to call it "white flight" when welfare began and the minorities flocked to the cities for a check and access to mass transit. These children of single moms didn't learn any survival skills other than to rob and steal. Mexicans moved in and work under the table for cash, while they are allowed to draw welfare because of their anchor babies. Illegals live in houses with 2 or 3 other families and overtax the schools and utilities. They don't care because they plan to save money for a few years and move back to Mexico for the low cost of living. Decent people fled the cities to the suburbs, and that includes the minorities with a work ethic and wisdom. The cities/suburbs were like night and day. Over the last couple of decades, mass transit spread out to the suburbs. This allowed the welfare crowd to move to the suburbs if they wanted. The cancer of crime and poverty spread to the suburbs. The majority of decent people left in the suburbs are the elderly, who have lived in their homes for 30-40 years and don't want to leave. I saw it in Southeast Dallas 20 years ago like I am beginning to see in the suburbs like with my parents.

I'm not blaming American leftists for screwing up the entire world. My opinion is that robbing the working to pay the poor attracts the lazy and that attracts opportunistic politicians who want to use "government money" to buy the votes of the lazy. That is my opinion of why American cities are such crime ridden dumps. That's all.

I'm sure there can be poor countries where the government is not overbearing and the people won't be rich, but most could be happy. America's problem is that we are rich and the government thinks it's their job to pick the winners and losers. The poor are jealous of the rich and the working resent having their paychecks stolen to support the lazy. Rich doesn't always equal hard working and poor doesn't always equal lazy.

Militant Islamists 'behead more than 50' in Mozambique.

It wasn't mentioned in our biased Government controlled media.
No politician dare mentions it -
all of them are traitors to Australia.
It would undermine the narrative of diversity and
multiculturalism as strength.
