19th anniversary of 9/11

Post by Bobby » Fri Sep 11, 2020 7:30 am

Today we remember the Muslim attack that took 3,000 lives.

New York City’s 19th anniversary memorial of 9/11 attacks will be unlike any other.

For each of the past 18 years, thousands have gathered at the World Trade Center site to honor the nearly 3,000 souls who perished in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks — but this year’s memorial will be starkly different.

The COVID-19 pandemic, which has impacted and altered our society in countless ways, will also change how the city reflects on that day of infamy 19 years ago this Friday. The annual morning vigil at the National September 11 Memorial and Museum has been changed to reflect the current crisis, and protect those who gather there from potential infection.

Families of 9/11 victims will again gather at the site this Sept. 11, but for the first time, the program will not include a live reading of the victims’ names. The 9/11 Memorial and Museum will instead play a recording of victims’ names, gathered from the museum’s In Memoriam exhibition, to honor the memories of those lost in the tragedy.

Some have bristled with the change and have insisted that a live reading go on regardless of the pandemic.

The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to first responders and named for a firefighter lost on 9/11, has organized a live name-reading on Sept. 11 at the corner of Liberty and Church streets. Vice President Mike Pence is expected to participate in the name-reading ceremony, which the Siller Foundation indicated will have 140 masked, socially-distanced participants.

Either you're with us, or you're with the terrorists.

Me too - when the 2nd plane hit the tower.
That's when we knew for sure it was an attack.
I was terrified that it would happen here as well.

I wasn't worried about it happening here but I was in complete and utter shock when I saw that second plane fly behind the commentators head and into the second tower live.

I was too but I thought it was all on.
I thought this would be the new normal.

I flew to El Paso on 9/10 and worked on some equipment at city hall. I ordered parts and they were flown counter to counter early the next morning. My alarm was set for 0700. The second plane hit the tower at 0703 my local time and it was the first thing I saw after 1 minute of coverage from the first plane hitting. I checked out of my hotel and went to the airport to pick up my part. It had already arrived. The airport was in chaos, but I only had to go to the cargo office and pick up my part.

I arrived at El Paso City Hall and police were barricading the doors of the building with city trucks. A police officer told me to go away and that my work could not be done. El Paso is on our border with Mexico and nobody knew what was going on. The facilities manager met me at the door and told the cop that my job was critical and he escorted me inside. I installed the circuit board and had the equipment up and running in 15 minutes.

I went back to the airport and it was a ghost town by this time. All flights were cancelled and the car rental lots were empty. I went to the car rental counter and converted my local rental to a one way rental back to Dallas Love Field, where my car was parked. I looked for someone who might be stranded and looking for a ride to Dallas, but nobody was around. I think I would have liked the company.

My wife was 6 weeks away from delivering our youngest son. She was pretty freaked out and wanted me home, so I drove. It was a 10 1/2 hour drive from El Paso to Dallas. I was pulled over once for speeding, but the cop let me go. He could have hauled me to jail for the speed I was going. Gas stations were already starting to price gouge. Many stations got into huge trouble for that. I listened to news radio when I could pick up radio. I got home at 2230 that night.

I spend most 9-11s ticked off. America lost it's innocence that day. We were vulnerable for the first time in my life and it pissed me off. We also gave up a lot of our freedoms because of that day and that pissed me off. So I tend to spend most 9-11s pissed off. My latest pet peeve is that the media quit showing footage of the towers falling or the people leaping from the burning building to their deaths. They don't want to anger the public and make their pet America haters look bad. My sons will never see what happened to us that day unless I can find some old files on my computer. My life hasn't been drastically affected, but I feel violated and I guess I will feel that way this time every year.

Thanks Texan,
you went through hell.

Not a single Muslim has been hanged.
It was supposed to be a war on terror.
I'm disappointed.

We never had a proper inquiry into 9/11 and we never will.

The only inquiry was a whitewash with over 1000
questions not answered.
I can guarantee that at least 1 million pages of evidence are marked top secret
and will never be released.

It's the same as Pearl Harbor.
It's almost certain the Roosevelt knew it was going to happen
but he wanted to enter the war so let it happen.
After 79 years it's still covered up.
Papers are still secret.
You can't read them.

Rudolf Hess flew to England in 1941 -
the same time, 79 years ago.
The papers surrounding the British investigation are still marked top secret
so we'll never know what that was all about.
When he was in Spandau prison he wasn't allowed to write a book
about it and his letters were heavily censored.
No guards were allowed to talk to him or have eye contact.

The British war crimes in WW1 were supposed to be released after 100 years but still
we've heard nothing after 106 years.
Those papers will remain secret forever -
they have probably been burnt as the crimes were so bad.

That's what Governments do - they are basically criminals.

I have a 9/11 theory.

My theory is that in the same way that Roosevelt knew that Pearl Harbor
was going to happen and did nothing to stop it -
so that America had a good excuse to enter WW2 -
Bush knew that 9/11 was going to happen and did nothing.
It was used as a pretext for war in the Middle East.

Can anyone help me with some proof?
