New car ?
I have been thinking of buying a new car for a while.
Got a Camry with only 270,000 kms on it. Good for another decade I think so I am not in a rush.
Was thinking of buying a 2014 camry but not convinced about it.
A 2014 Aurion popped up on my screen . Looks a bit more fun.
Much better buying. Uses 20% more fuel.
Any thoughts?

Re: New car ?
I probably should buy a new car but I'm not driving enough to bother right now. I have a Ford now and they last forever much like a Camry.
My son just got a new Skoda Octavia. It should arrive this week. I'm not familiar with them.

Re: New car ?
I recognize Toyota and Ford, but the rest is Martian. I'm usually pretty well versed on cars, but without knowing all of the players, I'm clueless. Good luck with your purchase. I hope you enjoy it for many years.
Toyota - Boring and lagging in new technology, but VERY dependable and the company attacks any found flaws to protect their reputation. Can't go wrong, just don't expect everyone to "ooh and aaah" over it. My 06 4Runner was good for 320k km and the only service I had to pay for was pinion bearing replacement. I did all oil changes, belts, brakes, transmission service, spark plugs, tire rotations, etc.... It was running well when my son traded it in.
Ford - OK quality. Iv'e noticed that their vehicles are comfortable and very well insulated. Their eco-boost line of engines perform very well, but I don't think they are as reliable as non-turbo engines. They do OK. My dad's eco-boost F-150 only needed remedial maintenance once and that was under warranty. It's 9 years old right now, but he only has about 50k kilometers on it. It runs like a scalded dog. His twin turbo V6 will outrun my F-150 with a 5.0l V8 and he gets 15-20% better fuel economy.

Re: New car ?
Cods - I am sort of in your situation. My car does me perfectly well.
I develop attachments with cars and if they are good, I find it hard to sell them.
Went to see and drive the Aurion. Really nice. Very solid car, a country car.
Will sleep on it.
Texan - yes, Toyotas are boring. Your experience with one is typical. 320,000 kms, well serviced and it will be running perfectly well.
Generally the higher stressed turbo motors won't last as long as a normal motor.
What usually ends a car is a loss of coolant and the motor overheating OR the auto blowing up due to it not being serviced.

Cods?
A car to me has always just been something that gets me from A to B. It needs to be comfortable but it doesn't need to be flashy.

I name my cars. Like them older as they have more character.

Re: New car ?
My thinking is a 6 cyl is not suited to my needs.
A 4 cyl will be operating in it's ideal temperature range much more , so is better for me.
The larger engines take longer to warm up.
have much more thermal mass.
Get a 2.5 litre on a 6 speed auto. Perfect.
Am also thinking next year the financial effects of covid will be hitting.
the 2nd hand car market could decline
My car is good for years, keep my eyes open a real bargain could arise.
Around 2014 --> 2017, toyota/honda, 2.5 litre, 6 speed auto, perhaps a SUV ?
More tending to a toyota. They are tougher.
