My family getting this virus changed nothing about how I would like to face it. I've said from the start that we should protect our vulnerable, wash or hands, social distance when possible, wear a mask if you want, and get back to work as long as you are healthy. I stayed away from my parents as much as possible, and assisted them with shopping and home maintenance if it avoided bringing strangers into their house. When we were sick, we quarantined, tested, and avoided spreading the disease to a single person. We are now back to a normal work week and this disease is pretty much behind us. My elderly and vulnerable are all fine and nobody died. We just got home from celebrating my mother in law's 89th birthday after going to a gun show with thousands of people.

My family getting this virus changed nothing about how I would like to face it. I've said from the start that we should protect our vulnerable, wash or hands, social distance when possible, wear a mask if you want, and get back to work as long as you are healthy. I stayed away from my parents as much as possible, and assisted them with shopping and home maintenance if it avoided bringing strangers into their house. When we were sick, we quarantined, tested, and avoided spreading the disease to a single person. We are now back to a normal work week and this disease is pretty much behind us. My elderly and vulnerable are all fine and nobody died. We just got home from celebrating my mother in law's 89th birthday after going to a gun show with thousands of people.

And such is the simplest things that we need to do. If we all do such, then we can stop this virus but people continue to refuse to do the most basic. I am gobsmacked how many people refuse to wash their hands which before the virus was unhealthy thing to do. The lockdowns are only because people REFUSE to do those basic things,

This virus is not a hugely dangerous thing just highly infectious. Regardless of those conspiracy theorists who think it is government propaganda, it is important to realise that we know so little about this virus. It is official that once you have it you are not immune to reinfection. Also that falling ill to this virus has some serious long term affects regardless of your health status.

BUT as we see there are those who still want to blame the government for their own ideals that they should do nothing to protect themselves and others from such outcomes. Imagine the squealing they will do if they become victims of their own conspiracy...

I don't have a dog in your hunt, but I figured your words needed to be repeated. People can die from a disease or they can die from the government response to the disease. The long term effects of the economy shutdown will never be fully known. People will lose their livelihoods, children will not get a proper education and suffer for it, and freedom will be a distant happy memory for many.

Most people who die from the conjob19 virus fall into two categories....
(1) People who are already on the verge of death due to extreme old age
(2) People who are morbidly obese
Neither of these groups can be saved by locking down society or forcing everyone to wear masks.

Australia is pretty lucky really because there is very few Australians that are directly impacted by this virus. However, the rest of the world people are generally hard to find somebody who hasn't. It changes everything when it personally affects YOU.

Maybe people should consider if they don't want to lockdown and open the boarders and NOT do the most basic rudimentary effort to prevent spread just to fill their wallet. They could possibly consider what family member they could sacrifice for their desire to maintain normal lifestyle? The WHO suggested we wear masks two months ago.
