Race is just one manifestation of the biological phenomenon, but it manifests itself even when territorial expansion is no longer at issue, for instance the killing of Jews by the Nazis intensified as it become clear they would loose the war and their territorial ambitions.

I wondered how this woman could come up with opposite conclusions to the results of her test, after all if it was easy to bet brown eyed students to discriminate in two days the same would hold true of blue eyed students, once again revealing instinct or innate behavior.

And of course reading more about her I find out her true agenda, it would seem her diversity training an't so diverse. According to Ms. Eliot racism was invented by white people, only white people suffer from it, indeed she claims white people have never invented anything cultural but racism. She even claims requiring black students to learn algebra is a racist plot, because as we all know algebra was invented by whitey to confused them, da boggle de mind with dem with dem numbas and tricks dem back into the cotton fields.

Got confused over her assertion that the Roman alphabet was invented by "people of color." Is she assuming all Mediterraneans are "colored?" The ancient Greeks actually favoured blonde hair and were unlike today's hairy, dark Greeks.

Her assertions are confusing because all sociological shamanism is meant to be confusing.

Reason need not apply.

While I would take any one psychological study with a grain of salt there is information out there backing up my conclusions.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 105357.htm

“Contrary to what most people believe, the tendency to be prejudiced is a form of common sense, hard-wired into the human brain through evolution as an adaptive response to protect our prehistoric ancestors from danger"

That Ms. Elliot posits it is simply learned and learned soley by whites means not only is she a sociological shaman, not a researcher but it also means she is exhibiting the exact behavior she condemns.

I think 'rule of thumb' is a more appropriate term than common sense. Extending fear of the unknown, or a preference for family and familiar people, to favouring all brown eyed people over blue eyed people, or all white people over black people, is learned. Even preference for family is learned, as a child has to learn what family is. You can even teach a chicken to think of people as family.

I agree with the Frog that it is an expression of a quality that is innate. As social animals, we are programmed towards a tribal existence. Once the tribe is set it is very difficult for us to view the 'other' in the same light as we view our tribe. A real life example would be the various British experimentations in colonization.... think India.

Elliott's brown eyes, blue eyes experiment merely supports this notion. You know she reverse the experiment also and got the same results. Then she discussed the experiment with the children to raise their awareness of how racism is formed. I would like to know about those children now and exactly what tribes they align themselves with... most likely they are as stereotypical in their tribal formations as the rest of us.
