Is sport overrated?
https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/new-n ... malization
Good article....
Ive often wondered why so many people are sport mad...
Afterall...the result of any match you wish to analyse is totally inconsequential
except to the players and the leeches who bludge off the game which they once
played well as a 14 year old....
Think about it....
Why would anyone waste their time watching buzzardball (netball) or
80 minutes of oonga boonga..(NRL)
The golden era of Australian sport is over..
People now have time to spend doing other things...
Why would anyone paint their face in their teams colours, dress like an
idiot in their teams colours, spend a fortune going to the game, just to watch
a match where the result is totally inconsequential...(maybe because of
the media brainwashing...to prop up our false economy...)
WHY....
Because, before the conjob19 plandemic.....
THEY had nothing else in their miserable lives...
NOW because of the plandemic, they all pray for the "game" to return.....
YAWN YAWN.....
Read a book...learn how to cook...spend time with your kids...plant some
vegetables/flowers...take the dog for a walk...etc etc.....
SPORT..
Where would Australia be without our "sporting heroes"....
NOWHERE....
Sorry..
I forgot...
WE have a rock and a bridge.....

Sports teach discipline and teamwork and promote physical fitness. Professional sports is useless hero worship. Its entertainment and if taken beyond that it becomes more of a detriment than a benefit.

Yes, participation in a club/team event is beneficial.
Watching anyone else do anything has very limited benefits.
It is a massive error in administration that 'winning at the elite level' is given any consideration.
It is a terrible scenario that 'participating at the lowest level' is NOT given the utmost focus of an organisation.

Hi Billy,
yes - sport is overrated.
However - I must admit that I have enjoyed watching international rugby
especially when say Australia play New Zealand.
I don't like Aussie Rules - just a bunch of tall guys who could have been basket ball players,
running around all over the place with no structure.
Soccer is not bad but the goals should be wider - to make scoring easier -
as too many matches end up with only zero or 1 or 2 goals - boring.
I have enjoyed watching boxing on Youtube especially the great fights &
I've seen most of Mike Tyson's wins.
One day cricket is not bad if the scores are close but
test matches going 5 days are too long.
Golf is boring.
Snooker can be interesting but they don't show it on TV unless you have pay for view.

Why not just take the goals away altogether?Bobby wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2020 8:51 am
Widen the goals.
My grandfather was Scottish and he loved his soccer although he called it football. He used to say that soccer was a game of skill but football was a game of thuggery and I agree! You never see soccer players trying to stick their fingers up their opponent's bums!
I had both my kids playing soccer for years. Outdoor in winter and indoor in summer. Kids need team sport to help them develop character, learn to work together and socially interact.
Watching sport just for the sake of it is boring though.

Yes - sport is good for kids.
Also - the exercise is necessary to tell the body how to grow and strengthen.
Without sport - kids would end up as frail, weak adults.
