Coronavirus - how to cope with fear

Post by Bobby » Tue Jul 28, 2020 9:55 pm

Hi Everyone,
With these days of coronavirus it is easy to sit around in fear.
Some people imagine that they will get it or a loved one will get it etc.
They create horror movies in their head.
The media doesn't help -
you're fed it 24 hours a day.

Some great advice from a real Indian Guru.

Sadhguru,
To create fear you have to use excessive imagination.
Take 100 things that you feared –
probably 99 of them never happened.
So your fear is about that which does not exist.
You cannot fight or overcome that which does not exist.
Fear means you’re producing horror movies in your mind.
So produce something else – a comedy, a love story, suspense.

Franklin D. Roosevelt,

"So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is...fear itself —
nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance."

The media is encouraging people to panic -
they can't talk without video of coronavirus flying
or swimming around the screen to add effect.
People imagine themselves in the worst possible situations
which may only be a 1 in 1000 or
1 in 10,000 chance.

I'm not afraid of it Bobby. You shouldn't be either.

BTW I was out all afternoon at the Bank, Bunnings, Woolworths, Newsagent, Chemist etc and saw 3 people in a mask.

From my own Christian experiences.
When I became a Christian Jesus took away my fear of death.

There is a bible quote about that I read some months after.

Well - I was out today -
I saw only 2 people without masks.
The cops drove past one of them and did nothing.
I saw 100s of others with masks on.

I think fear is normal.
During a pandemic, it is a good time for fear. A sensible time, logical time for it. Accept that.
When some criminals bring covid into our state, you would behave to be deranged to NOT be fearful

Then step back. Do your gentle yoga.
What can you do to protect yourself?
What are the chances of getting it ?
What are the chances if you get it, you will fare badly?

Read your Bible, exercise often. Do more yoga.
Breathe.
