99.5 is 37.5 which is a low grade fever. Watch it and keep it down but I am sure you already know this.
When the body is infected, the immune system raises the body temp because it works better at a higher temp and the bacteria /virus works less efficiently. Artificially reducing the temp, has the effect of hiding the symptoms and gives the virus a better temp at which to replicate.

FYI
Another consideration is that of good ventilation. Opening windows and doors ensure that the virus is diluted.

I assume that Mrs Tex was the primary care giver during your son's brief illness, and if so, keep an eye on her as she may have had greater exposure as a consequence.

I do so hope that you and your wife take care... Kind regards :thumb
I would be be more inclined to get a free standing air filter, something with a HEPA filter in it, if I was concerned with air quality

I agree about artificially keeping a low grade fever down. Opening windows isn't an option right now. We barely get into the upper 20s at night unless we get some rain. Most days are reaching almost 40 C. This is the hottest time of the year for us. I'd do ok, but Mrs Texan gets migraines when she gets too hot.

BigP - I have a friend with an air conditioning company. He has a return air vent that kills bacteria with ultraviolet light in his AC system. I'm talking notes on his house. He has done everything perfectly.

The really cool thing about this quarantine. We have friends and family bringing us dinner every night. I love Texans.

Covid update. On day 2 of symptoms, I got a mild runny nose. This morning, on day 3 of symptoms, I woke up after sleeping all night with no medicine. My temperature was below normal at 98.1F. I still sniffle a little and occasionally cough, but I have no chills, aches, tiredness, etc...... Either this disease is weakening, or I have an above average immune system. (and I probably do) Or I have an entirely different ailment, but my symptoms have followed my son's exactly.

My test on Wednesday was negative, but my symptoms didn't begin until Thursday. Since I'm already quarantining with my son and I don't need medical attention, I decided not to go through the time and expense to get another test done. I got a pulse oximeter to monitor my blood oxygen content because I hear that that is a better indicator of needing medical attention than waiting until you feel bad to get medical care. By then the damage is done and intubation can do more harm than good for most. We also ordered zinc supplements, as that isy given with hydroxichloryquin and won't do any harm. If I ever need medicine, I'll be a step ahead.

The storm is a non issue. It is approaching the Southern tip of Texas and going into Mexico. Parts of the storm will bring rain to much of Southern Texas, but I won't see any. Even a large hurricane plowing into Houston will be a simple heavy thunderstorm by the time it gets to the Dallas area. I live in the area where many from Houston evacuate to. Weather wise, my only safety concern here is tornadoes, lightning strikes, or maybe localized flash flooding, but not at my house.

You are onto it Tex, They have found that in many cases they have been ventilating people unnecessarily,

Now Mrs Texan has it. She is more fragile than the rest of us. She gets nausea and dehydration easily when she is sick. She is in the ER. They are treating and releasing her. I'm waiting in the ute to pick her up. Now I get to take care of her.

My son and I feel almost 100%.
