The best near me are Woolies and Coles and they are both about the same price wise because they are in direct competition and close to each other. It's all location location location as to what they can get away with. I try to support IGA too but their prices just can't compete unfortunately.

Victoria records 459 new cases of coronavirus
and 10 more deaths,


marking the deadliest day in Australia since the pandemic began

Seven men ranging in age from their 40s to their 80s and three women in their 70s and 80s are the latest to die from the virus and take the state's death toll to 71.

Mr Andrews said seven of the deaths were linked to aged care outbreaks and the man in his 40s was not connected to any outbreak.

The record number of deaths came as Mr Andrews issued a warning to Victorians refusing to wear masks inside the lockdown area, in breach of rules that came into effect on Wednesday.

Several videos have emerged on social media of customers arguing with retail staff and police, with one non-compliant woman telling Bunnings Warehouse workers: "It is my right as a living woman to do whatever I want".

Mr Andrews said the mandatory use of masks outside the home was "not an issue of human rights" and said those who refused were "just making a selfish choice".

"There are 10 families that are going to be burying someone in the next few days," he said.

"Wear a mask. It's not too much to ask."


Police said 126 fines were issued to people breaching stage three restrictions in the 24 hours to Sunday morning.

Seventeen were issued to people trying to leave the lockdown zone, and 20 were to people not wearing masks.

A 47-year-old man and 51-year-old woman who were with their children at the time, refused to give police their details when they were approached at the 1,000 Steps in the Dandenong Ranges.

After multiple requests, the Ferntree Gully couple were arrested and will be issued with $200 fines for failing to wear a face covering.
Victoria sets new testing record, ADF to assist paramedics

More than 42,000 tests were completed on Saturday, the highest amount the Government has completed in a single day.

Mr Andrews said there were about 200 off-roster paramedics and third-year students helping with contact tracing.

"Their skills in dealing with dynamic circumstances means they are perfectly suited to that," he said.

From Monday, 20 Australian Defence Force personnel will begin working alongside Ambulance Victoria paramedics in joint crews.

Studies conducted across the country have revealed as many as half a million Aussies could be infected with coronavirus. Experts say it’s possible.

As many as 500,000 Australians could have been infected with coronavirus and not necessarily know it, according to the NSW chief health officer Kerry Chant.

It’s on the higher end of figures Dr Chant said are being studied to determine the number of people who have been exposed to the coronavirus, which an early estimate puts at between one and two per cent of the total population in Australia.

Public health authorities have been conducting serological testing to identify antibodies in people’s blood in the hopes of further understanding the virus’ presence in Australia.

“That study is being undertaken at the moment and will be reported in due course,” Dr Chant said.

“But it’s an important component of our surveillance plan to actually understand how many people at particular points have been exposed,” she added.

University of South Australia epidemiologist Professor Adrian Esterman told news.com.au “it would be a surprise” if that many people had been infected, and it would mean many might have never known they had coronavirus.

“It would mean that there are an awful lot of people who have been infected, had few if any symptoms, and therefore never got on the radar,” Professor Esterman said.

“If they did pass it on, then the newly infected people might be in the same situation.”

“The ones we are finding from PCR testing (that looks for traces of the virus in the swabs), presumably are far more likely to be symptomatic and end up in hospital,” he added.
