Times are getting worse. My 18 year old witnessed someone slashing someone's tire at a convenience store. I don't know if there was a personal motive, a racist motive, or just random vandalism. My son gave a statement to police.

In many of the young now they seem to resort to violence just for the sake of it. They have had no parental guidance, are always angry and lash out just because they have no clue why they are angry or what to do with it.

I didn't post about this, but a woman stole a potted plant from the alley behind my parents house. My parents gave the security video to the police. After a couple of weeks, the police brought Mom's plant back and the woman apologized.

In the last 2 years, my parents' cameras have solved a drive by window shooting spree with a pellet gun(54 car windows shot out), a burglary, the plant theft, and an act of vandalism. The police check with my parents whenever a crime happens in their neighborhood because of their cameras. I think that's why they got such good service over a stolen potted plant.

I can't believe anyone would steal a pot plant. There are so many crazies out there now though I really shouldn't be surprised at anything anymore.

The plant was just about dead and the concrete pot weighed about 40 kg or more. This 62 year old hispanic woman parked her new Toyota in the middle of the alley, opened the back hatch, and lifted with all of her might to get the pot loaded. This was all about 4 meters directly in front of a 5k camera. The pictures were absolutely perfect. She claimed that she thought the pot was garbage, so the police let her off with a warning after she returned the pot. My mom didn't want her arrested over a pot, but she did want it back.

My mom found her identity and address and gave it to the police when she filed the report. She has a friend who sells cars and can access the vehicle data base to get the identity of the owner by the license plates. Then she used that to access the county tax accessor data base to find an alternate address near my parent's house. My mom used to use that data base for her work with construction services of the local school system and still has access. She may could have gotten into trouble, but she obviously wasn't going to take the law into her own hands and harass the woman. What are the police going to do to a 74 year old woman?

I read with concern all that you have said of your parents situation.... quite terrible.
That their surveillance system has identified so much local crime and has been used by police to solve crime is deeply concerning for all of you.

Now I know you were raised a God fearing decent soul and based on the way you speak of your parents... you got this way of being from them.
And, i assume you were raised in a happy, suburban, working class, conservative home, surrounded by like minded souls.

So I ask myself... Where have all these like minded souls gone? Who are replacing the people?

The decent people are moving away from the big cities. The big cities are imploding under the weight of the leftist government and people expecting a handout from that government. Crime in Dallas is out of control and I will never move back to Dallas County as long as I live. Not even my parents house, and it's the nicest house for miles. It's not the place I grew up in.
