Post by Juliar » Sun Jul 19, 2020 11:28 am

Bit of scheming going on here.  Will Abbo go for Parramatta seat ?  Abbo has popped up in the news lately. Labor will shudder with disbelief.

Geez won't GetUp! swing into full terrorist mode out Parramatta way!!!!

Former prime minister Tony Abbott is reportedly being encouraged to run as a candidate for a federal seat in western Sydney at the next election.

The Daily Telegraph reports senior Liberal party members have urged Mr Abbott to return to federal politics by vying for the Labor-held seat of Parramatta.

The newspaper cited one source as saying Mr Abbott rejected the offer as he did not want to appear as "a wrecker" while another source said he might consider the option if the invitation came from Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

Mr Abbott was defeated at the 2019 election in the northern Sydney seat of Warringah, an electorate he had held since 1994, by independent candidate Zali Steggall.

Abbott would more than likely get his old seat back but I'm sure he doesn't want it now. GetUp spent in excess of $10 million to unseat him and to try to unseat Dutton and from what I hear Zali Steggall is a dismal failure in Warringah.
