My youngest will begin a 2 year trade school program to be a diesel mechanic. I'm considering buying an old school bus to convert into an RV. I could live in it while I build my next home. Some of these "schoolies" are amazing.
Diesel mechanic is a good trade.
We can't get enough of them in my industry at the moment.
Most trades give a good return, but some are dying out.
But diesel mechanic, good choice.
Make sure he does some ExDES training as well.
That will secure him work in mines.

I did the contractor gig for a while.
The pay is good, but the work disheartening.
You fix it, go away and a few months later it's a mess again because people screw it all up.
You fix it again, train everybody, and then 6 months later new staff have screwed it up again.
Nah, I'm happy to just leave and retire.
I have been offered a part time job at an old mates businesses to train people.
I'm thinking about it, just as a hobby.
But I really just want to fish, go bushwalking, kayaking and enjoying life.
47 years and I'm done.

When I retired, the workplace was gong to the dogs overall....there was a lot of discontent
across the board in numerous occupations.....
I wonder what its like now....somehow I think its got worse...
I know that's a huge generalisation, as one workplace may be great compared to another....
Irrespective of the effect of covid...I wouldn't like to be in any workplace today....

actually owned their job.....ten employees...ten jobs.....nowadays...and for several years the government
employs maybe 6 people to do the jobs of the original 10, but none of them own the jobs....
They are all simply employed as clerks....and rotate from one job to another depending on who is
is on sick leave...recreation leave...flexi leave...maternity leave...carers leave etc etc..
They are all conned into thinking they are all part of this great fantastic team....

employs maybe 6 people to do the jobs of the original 10, but none of them own the jobs....
They are all simply employed as clerks....and rotate from one job to another depending on who is

They are all conned into thinking they are all part of this great fantastic team....
Companies are run by bean counters who think they can get something for nothing.
It lowers morale and there is always high employee turnover.
When new people arrive there is no training.
