Today, Victoria has recorded 75 new cases of COVID-19.

That's the highest number of new infections from before the 3-month lockdown.

Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton has warned the second surge in the number of new cases of coronavirus "will get worse before it gets better" as Victoria recorded 75 cases on Monday.

Professor Sutton said the current spike in cases is "as big as the first one", and authorities expected to see "at least as many positive cases as we've had over the last 24 hours" in coming days.
