Why I like Makita tools
They are one of the few 'better' brands that are not owned by a corporation.
They are Japanese.

My dad bought a Makita saw and loved how light and balanced it was. He owns a lot of Makita tools now.

I have a couple of Makita tools
But for precision work, I have a couple of Dewalt tools.
My hand tools are all best quality though, cost more, but last longer and perform better.
But nearly 20 years ago, I purchased a $19.00 drill from burnings after forgetting my drill at home.
I was in need of a drill for half a dozen or so holes and figured it woukd last that long.
I still have that toy.
Oh, it smokes if you push it too hard.
But it always works and is perfect for jobs where a lightweight drill is needed and is Nona get beaten around.
It's been left out in the rain overnight
Dropped from great heights.
Banged up, beaten and used to death.
But it still goes.
It's bearings rattle, you couldn't drill a precision hole if your life depended on it.
But it's a good backup.
One day I'll toss it, or not.

I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream

Valkie - yes, well, if it still goes ...........
One of my brothers is REALLY rough on tools. He buys cheap ones, gets 3 or so drills and a cheap circular saw for $150 for the lot.
By the time they are broken or blunt, they have more than paid for themselves. They do not get stolen as they are a cheap brand.
A lot to be said for that.
The DeWalt/Milwalkee have good reputations.
Are Hilti intended more for heavy duty work?
Think Bosch are no longer as solid as they used to be.
Hitachi would probably be perfectly good

Re: Why I like Makita tools
I was always a fan of Hitachi (Now changed name to Hikoki ??) tools such as circular saws, routers etc mainly as they had more powerful motors than the opposition, I have noticed in recent years they are selling cheaper ones as well aimed at the handyman martket rather than the tradie I guess.
So I am not sure what they are like nowdays!

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-hita ... SKBN14X0JH............. U.S. private equity firm KKR & Co LP (KKR.N) said on Friday it has agreed to buy Hitachi Ltd’s (6501.T) power tools unit, Hitachi Koki Co Ltd 6581.T, for about $1.3 billion, its second billion-dollar deal in Japan in three months. ..........
Once they get sold to a cooperation, they get resold, and resold .......... then it is just a 'commodity'.
There is no soul in it.
We have some Hitachi centrifuges at work, very good.
