Predictions for JobKeeper/JobSeeker Programme

Post by billy the kid » Thu Jun 25, 2020 3:58 pm

At the risk of being accused of being flippant..heartless...demeaning..etc..
I wonder if anyone has predictions in this area....
I think personally that Morrison will scrap JobKeeper on 1.9.2020.
I know that it is legislated to continue to 27.9.2020 but I feel that he may
cut it off early....
As for JobSeeker...well my thoughts are that JobSeeker will be reduced
to $1000 per fortnight from the current $1500.
This is slightly above the pension rate and the Government will be seen to be
doing something positive, rather than simply reducing it right back to the rate it was
before.....
Rent Assistance may also be increased, but not by much....
Those people on JobKeeper will transition to JobSeeker if they are unemployed....
There may even be changes made to the amount of casual earnings a JobSeeker
recipient can receive without effecting the payment insofar as people will be
permitted to earn more before their JobSeeker is effected....
I don't think Morrison can scrap JobKeeper and have JobSeeker revert back to the
lower rate...
That WOULD be heartless...…
AND NO.... I am not in the know...these are just crystal ball predictions....

Personally I don't think JobSeeker should be above the pension rate. I certainly think that it should be higher than what it was but I don't think people capable of working and earning a living should be paid more than those who have paid taxes all their life and are now into old age and cannot work.

Welfare dependency is strong in many areas and I think it's 85% of certain 'refugees' don't have a job after 5 years here? We have whole families claiming disability for PTSD who have never even seen a war zone.

Other than that I have no idea what ScoMo will do lol.

I disagree, pensions should always be higher than unemployment payments.. Although, it would be amusing to see the oldies, disabled and their carers take to the streets with placards demanding justice for the disadvantaged.

Ha Ha…
Perhaps paying JobSeekers higher than the pension may not be a good idea...
However in the current economic climate, I feel there should be some concessions made
by the Government to those who are unemployed. I would concentrate on weakening the
casual income means test to allow recipients to earn more through casual work without their
JObSeeker being effected....
Back in the day, there were Field Officers working for Centrelink with the function of chasing down
the cheats...it seems that maybe those Field Officers are now non existent...…
Pity....

Maybe they could be paid more for the first 6 months and if jobs are out there and they haven't found one after 6 months the rate drops. The higher rate should not be more than is paid to pensioners though.

They also need to quit handing out disability willy nilly for bogus PTSD. Counsel them and put them to work.

EDIT: I don't know enough about JobKeeper to comment.

Well, there goes my prediction...
I think Senator Ruston stating that there is no submission to the effect which has been reported in the paper
now debunks the whole idea of an increase...(in JobSeeker)
Obviously an official announcement wont be made until after the result of the Eden Monaro by election
is known...…
Morrison has already stated that JobKeeper will not be extended.....
AND the Qld Premier continues to keep the border closed until JobKeeper ends....
Then she can blame Morrison for the ensuing debacle....."JobKeeper has ended....its not my fault...." :rofl
So I guess that's that....
Unless someone reneges...... :rofl
The ads have already started encouraging covid free plans for workplaces which should open
immediately....
BUT I thought everyone was working from home.....
Morrisons got nothing.......sfa....... :rofl

They're pushing for a rise of $150 for JobSeeker. Not sure if that's per week or per fortnight.
