Trump isn't a warmonger like Hillary/Obama/Biden. He is a businessman and would prefer to squash them economically unless they are a direct threat. China needs US trade far more than the US needs China.
The problem is that countries like Australia will bow to the Chinese and still trade with them.

That's why he has military advisors, Red. Exactly what hard decision would you like him to make on this? You've already said you want Australia hiding behind someone else's skirt.
Perhaps you follow BR's view that Denmark and Indonesia would be better allies to Australia.

Nothing I suspect!
At least old George W Bush had some balls!
I at least would like to see us building up a military similar in capabilities to Israels IDF which would have a chance at defending us!

I understand that having another country put China in their place would be of great benefit to you, but I'm not ready to go to war unless all other options are exhausted. Trump has flexed his negotiating muscles more than once and gotten us favorable results. Bringing our critical resource production home, not allowing our technology to be sent to China for theft, and evening the trade conditions would be a great start. At least we are energy independent and are rebuilding our military.Redneck wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 12:19 pmTrump is just a show pony, not up to the real hard decisions!Black Orchid wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 12:01 pmTrump isn't a warmonger like Hillary/Obama/Biden. Militarily Trump is all crap in my opinion!
Our military are crap and we may as well surrender now unless we start spending big time in my opinion!
As I have said a few times I admire Israels IDF, which is what Australia needs , However Israels IDF is largely funded by the USA I gather.
I think Australia could fund a similar force itself if we didnt have wankers running the country imo!

I think Trump will continue to beat them the same way he has been doing.Texan wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 3:07 pmI understand that having another country put China in their place would be of great benefit to you, but I'm not ready to go to war unless all other options are exhausted. There's absolutely no need for military action. That's absurd right now. Australia needs to grow some cojones and assertive self confidence and understand there are many other trading partners out there other than China. Especially in the wake of the pandemic.
No doubt we will just sell out to them though. Anything they want to buy here no doubt they shall have.

Have you observed the spread of Chinese influence with the One Belt and One Road initiative. They are pushing there influence into all areas of the world,
my concern is the south East Asia area (especially the smaller nations) and even into the dickhead Victorian Parliament!
These smaller nations will be given big loans that they will not be able to pay back and Whacko they will have a Chinese CCP Military base as a result of writing off the loan!

And politicians like our leftist 'friend' Dan Andrews are all for it. Whist both sides bend the knee somewhat to the CCP the left bend far far lower.Redneck wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 3:50 pmIn regard to trading partners I agree totally!Black Orchid wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 3:37 pm

What we all need down here is for the US to continue to provide its presence in the South China Sea without criticism. It is, after all, international waters and does not belong to China.
https://www.benarnews.org/english/news/ ... 83928.htmlChina’s navy recently harvested 1.5 tons of vegetables on its biggest military base and civilian center in the Paracel Islands, in what state media portrayed as vindication of Beijing’s position that disputed land features it claims in the South China Sea can sustain human life.
