Australian debt.
When Tony Abbott came to power the Federal Govt. debt was $200 billion.
He declared that a budget emergency.
Recently it was near $800 billion under the Libbos -
and then we borrowed
$230 billion more due to the Coronavirus.
Therefore it's now well over $1 trillion.
The Australian debt clock is not showing that latest Covid-19 additional debt:
https://australiandebtclock.com.au/
It shows National Govt. debt as only $786 billion.
However our total Aussie debt is $7.3 trillion.
How on earth did we get into such a terrible situation?
We've been living beyond our means since the GFC of 2008.
Labor or Liberal? -
just 2 parts of our one party communist state.
Social security and public servants are paid for out of borrowed money.
When a politician tries to get elected and says they
will spend this much money on something -
it's code for -
"I will borrow more money to pay for this
and put Australia into even greater debt"

Re: Australian debt.
Our Reserve Bank is doing some sort of digital funny money printing.
I don't understand it.
I bet it will devalue or savings?
Look at the Wiemar Republic in Germany in the 1930s
and Zimbabwe more recently -
they printed money until you
needed a wheelbarrow of cash to buy a loaf of bread.

Labor's response is to issue tens of thousands more spouse and partner visas and to flood us with immigrants. I can't open the link though ...

Re: Australian debt.
Oh and let's sell more residential property to the Chinese so housing prices can rise even more and we get all that stamp duty to help pay down the debt.
https://www.news.com.au/finance/economy ... 50ef6e9252Last year Ms Vadas sold only one or two properties to a Chinese buyer but interest was beginning to come back in December and now nearly all interest in her properties is from this category of investor.
“We've seen about 90 per cent of enquiries at the moment coming from Chinese buyers,” she said.
"It's interesting to note these are not new people, these are not random people I have never dealt with, these are people who bought and sold from me two-four years ago and have just come back into the market.
"There certainly is a perception of value at the moment.”

And it makes one shudder to think of the unholy mess we would all be in now if the Union and Greeny controlled Socialist Labor Party had gotten in and RESTARTED the BOATS!!!!!
How long would it have been before the GG DISMISSED Shifty old Shorty for grossly damaging the Australian Economy ?
Just imagine the Chinese bribes that would have been pouring in!!!!!
We would all be engulfed in the Chinese COVID-19 Virus with thousands dying as the evil Greenies demanded Labor continue illegally bringing even more Devil Worshiping Heathens dripping with the Virus into Australia.
How Australia would have ened up if Labor had gotten in!!!!

It doesn't really matter which side is, or will be, in the doors will be opened either way.

That is certainly true in the past!Black Orchid wrote: ↑Sun May 17, 2020 2:20 pmIt doesn't really matter which side is, or will be, in the doors will be opened either way.
I think that is usually pushed by the government departments to grow the population to support the aging population, number of pensioners etc,
just how much the non skilled ones contribute is very debateable, especially the refugees from Africa etc.
However after this major downturn they may limit it one can only hope!
