Social distancing was introduced during the Bush administration to combat the SARS virus.
The CDC has stated that the results of social distancing were never tested.
The theory of social distancing was met with skepticism when introduced.
Yet in Australia, and world wide, everyone is told to socially distance...
Presumably because a cough or breathing can infect someone 1.5 metres away....
Presumably....
Why aren't we all wearing masks....
Oh that's right....the government told us not to...
Yet overseas everyone is encouraged to wear one....
Oh that's right....the Australian government (inset here the health system)
didn't have enough masks early in the peace and...well....I suppose...they just
told us ….well...in an attempt to cover up this fact.....that....well...we don't need
to wear one....probably to ensure the masks we did have were used by those health
workers who needed them...
Now apparently, we have a squillion masks....excellent....only took two months....
Why aren't we wearing them...
Because a back flip would make our government look like fools...…
WELL...…. :rofl

Its a simple question....I wont start a thread on it....
Question....
Should the Australian taxpayer pay for the Australian/State Government shutdown of the economy
and the subsequent depression which looms on the horizon with increased taxes....
My simple answer to the simple question is a resounding NO.
How are taxes going to be "adjusted" as Lowe spruiks….
How will the taxation system in Australia be amended...
Will the GST go up...already a thought bubble is being floated...
What about stamp duty...
The media suggestion last night was that if the GST was increased it would allow governments
to reduced payroll tax and this would save 300,000 jobs....correct me here if Im wrong on this "press statement"
The thought bubbles have been floated already by the government and the media whores are
doing their job for the government and testing the waters....
Infrastucture spending is simply mentioned as a throwaway line...a diversion...a red herring...
Various state and federal funding for a myriad of un-named projects.....another diversion...
The real litmus test.....
INCREASING TAXES...
Lets do that....
Lets have the lemmings pay for this.....
As I said my answer is NO.....
How can a population in depression handle increased taxes...
It cant....
Thoughts anyone...…. :hush

This will be hardest on millenials who are generally deeply in debt with no savings as a safety net.

Taxes in one form or another will have to rise. Producing more goods and services, getting people who think welfare is a career off the dole, keep money flowing?

Interesting article on 'voodoo economics' ...

Why do you think taxes have to rise? The pandemic wasn't the taxpayers fault...nor was
was the lockdown and subsequent economic collapse....
Before the pandemic Lowe was reducing interest rates to near zero and we
were in a recession/teetering into one....
I would be thinking that the compulsory super levy should be suspended.
Maybe we'll just have to agree to disagree.....

I think taxes have change. For example, in India, entry into all attractions were up to three times more for tourist than for citizens. I see no reason why the same cant apply here.

Oh, and you should have made a thread out of it!

One of the most unattractive presenters on television has come out and suggested those NRL players
who cant cope with playing NRL and the mental stress caused by media scrutiny etc could always just play park footy...
Whist I have no interest whatsoever in rugby league I find that these comments by another media boofhead
are just par for the course...
Mental illness is a very serious condition and I have experienced it first hand in other people.
The presenter is a fool and his comments are a disgrace and should be retracted....
BUT then again, the NRL has always attempted to survive on controversy hasn't it.....
If there isn't any going around...well....lets create some.....
