The road out of the pandemic

Post by sprintcyclist » Thu May 07, 2020 12:58 pm

I think we will fail.

I have seen too many people not take this pandemic seriously enough.
Too many people ignoring physical distancing, going out whenever they want and not downloading the app.
For every one I see, there will be 1000's more.

I think it will breakout and many will die and we will have Shutdown Mark II.
Which will be harder to do and less effective.

Shutdown Mark II will certainly be worse if it happens.

The Evangelist Virus Doom Warrior is getting worried that the Virus is nearly finished.

I predict it is a long way from being finished.

Im more of an optimist...
I think we are well on the road to recovery.....
We have had almost 8000 cases
Recoveries number almost 7000
We have only 27 people in ICU with the virus in the entire country
That's an average of 3.5 per state/territory....
3.5....
Places such as South Australia haven't had an infection for weeks....
I don't think Townsville has had an infection for several weeks...
They've only had 24 since it all began....
I predict tomorrow Morrison will do a backflip and tell us all to wear masks....
The lifting of restrictions in each state will be like the individual premiers
playing snakes and ladders...
Too scared to land on a snake....
Maybe we can all use one of the experts advice and go back to normal
depending on our house street number...…
Its sad that the nation has been reduced to waiting with bated breath for each
snippet of information each states premier announces....
Bit like peasants scrounging for crumbs I suppose.....

Its coming...the rest of the world versus islam....or is it here already...

Gladys says she has no intention of lifting restrictions in NSW and won't change her mind.

I agree with her.
She would be conferring with the medical team in NSW.

Our Glad will fold after a bit as she is just trying to appear to be caring and careful and she doesn't want another disaster like the Ruby Princess.

The economic pressure to get back to business is not as severe in NSW.

Glad is not an Evangelist Virus Doom Warrior who is hoping for a never ending plague as punishment for our evil.

Even GetUp! is worried the Virus is the platform that is carrying ScoMo to a landslide victory at the next election and so they are trying to stop the downloading of the Virus App.

Keep fit and healthy with adequate vitamin C and D and the Virus is just a mild cold which changes to herd immunity after a fortnight.

As more and more healthy people become part of the herd immunity the virus will simply have nowhere to go.

Of course elderly and sick people need to be quarantined as the virus would knock them for six. See what happens in the retirement homes and after the Ruby Princess which was a disaster.

Brendan Murphy says
............“We don’t want to have any situation where there is broad transmission over a long period of time where you end up with several hundred cases and a large outbreak.

“That is the sort of thing we are trying to avoid.”

Unless a highly effective treatment is developed, Prof Murphy said social distancing measures would likely be in place until a vaccine is available, which could take up to two years.

“I think it is unlikely that we will be able to have very large, close-packed crowds until we have got rid of this virus,” he said.

“So unfortunately I can’t see 100,000 people packing a grand final of football.

“I wouldn’t want a crystal ball too far ahead but I don’t think we will be shaking hands and randomly hugging and getting crowded in rooms for a long time.”

Prof Murphy was also asked about a “COVID-safe workplace”, as raised by the Prime Minister earlier, and if it meant the end of hot-desking.

He said he believes hot-desking “would have to be done in a different way”.

Workplaces would also have to look at staggered start and finish times.

“We don’t want everybody crowding on public transport at the same time,” Prof Murphy said.

“We don’t want everyone crowding in the lifts at the beginning of the day and the end of the day.”

He said “frequent cleaning” of hot desks and common spaces would also be needed.

“We want cleaning products everywhere,” he said.

“We want staff to have a responsibility for hygiene. Hand sanitiser everywhere. Everybody sanitising their hands.”

Practices like shaking hands or crowding into a small room for a meeting would need to be avoided. Video meetings would need to be held where possible, including if this could be done to avoid interstate travel.

“There is a range of general measures that are all about reducing your close contact with fellow human beings,” Prof Murphy said...................
