The stats are misleading. There were many millions who had it and never showed symptoms. They weren't included in those calculations. A test in NYC revealed that 21'% of those randomly tested had the antibodies for the China Virus. How much is 21% of NYC alone? Over 2 million?

Don't get me wrong. The deaths are tragic, but your chances of surviving the virus are very good.

I hope so and the Spanish flu disappeared and never came back.
I hope it's the same with this new virus.
One can only hope !

Being an old coot, I ordered one of those fancy forehead thermometers to keep an eye on my wifes an my temperatures.

We are all hoping it will just go away.
I have a feeling that the only outbreaks will end up in old people's homes -
poor people as they are the must vulnerable.

I think it's going to be around for quite some time.

Our death rate is now 4 per million whilst China's sits at 3. I am sure Billy has a bridge he can sell to anyone who believes that.

Those Chinese made the virus:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52496098

What did Trump say?

At the White House on Thursday, Mr Trump was asked by a reporter: "Have you seen anything at this point that gives you a high degree of confidence that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was the origin of this virus?"

"Yes, I have. Yes, I have," said the president, without specifying. "And I think the World Health Organization [WHO] should be ashamed of themselves because they're like the public relations agency for China."

Asked later to clarify his comment, he said: "I can't tell you that. I'm not allowed to tell you that."

There is something intrinsically wrong with large cities.
We assume that it's safe for enormous numbers of people
to be in such a small space.
Public transport is necessary to bring in that many people every working day
into the city center.
Why do we do it?
Why not have business spread out into suburbs so
that there is a less intense concentration of people?
People could then drive to work and find a car park
space right outside their office -
no need for public transport - people could live
close to where they work -
even walk or cycle to work.
Then, if a disease broke out it would be localised into
perhaps one suburb only and not distributed amongst
millions of people so easily.
It's even a cheaper solution for business.
Office space in a suburb - especially far from the city
is much cheaper than in the center of a city.

Our large cities with underground railways were never
developed with health & safety during a pandemic in mind.
The whole world needs to change after this pandemic
to make us more virus resistant.

My house 25 miles from downtown Dallas may become more valuable in the future because of this. I'd like to move out another 20-30 miles.

Good luck with that - I hope it works.
Big cities are just wrong in terms of pandemic prevention.

My work pays me while I am driving to and from work, so as long as I don't abuse it I get more hours when I live further out. I don't go to an office. I do field service at our customer's business sites. I work a different location every day. I've worked on off shore oil and mining rigs, auto manufacturing plants, government agencies, military bases, banks, insurance companies, etc........

They weren't designed for that purpose, Bobby. They were designed for defence against marauding armies from the next door principality. They have since developed into merchantile and business and transport and communications hubs. :roll
