An 86-year-old man has died and his wife is seriously injured after being bashed in their home in Sydney’s northwest.

The attack occurred after midnight on Wednesday when two men forced entry to the couple’s Cherrybrook home, demanded money and assaulted them.

The couple was watching TV at the time of the break in.

The man was assaulted after trying to defend his wife, NSW Police Acting Superintendent Anthony Boyd said.

“To attack defenceless, elderly people in their own home is a cowardly, gutless attack,” he told reporters on Wednesday.

Boyd added police believe the attack was targeted but are unsure why.

These 2 deserve the choice of rotting for the rest of their lives in prison cell or ending it all now with a quick execution.

No death penalty here. Not much is being said about it yet but they say they believe it was a targeted attack so hopefully they have some evidence/clues as to the motive which will lead them in the right direction.

They are nothing but cowards but I find it hard to comprehend how anyone could do this to the aged.
