Tony Abbott just
loves referring to Julia Gillard as "Julia".
He doesn't call Kevin Rudd "Kevin".
He doesn't call Lindsay Tanner "Lindsay".
He refers to them as Mr .... or by their job title (Minister for ....).
But with Gillard it's always Julia.
The point I think Tony is trying to make here is .......... but, but, but..........she's a WOMAN!
A WOMAN!! It fits the religious fundy persona perfectly.
It must kill him to have his ass handed to him so frequently by A WOMAN.
Love the fact that she never fails to return serve by calling him Tony, Tony, Tony.

At least he's not calling her "that ranga"
Good to see you pop your head in, Dring!

Perhaps Abbott and Gillard have more intimate names for each other too.

I can't say I agree with all Abbot's beliefs or political agenda (I really wish he would drop the renewed work choices talk) but at least Abbot is human, has other human interests other than politics.
Rudd acts like he has never thought of any other thing, as though he were cloned in some Labor Party Lab to be a political being. He is so stiff when talking about non-political subject matter, as if he is trying to remember his briefing points on what it means to be a human being.
This is perhaps why he has such a high staff turnover, he lives only for politics and his own personal ambition so can not relate to his staff's other and natural human needs.

Something very similar to this occurred to me today when watching Rudd make an attempt at humour by comparing life in politics to dog years.
There was something very wooden and contrived about the delivery and it reminded me very much of Howard.
