I think its time we gave the leaders some credit instead of the constant bitching

I just watched Trump's latest press conference,

"It's hard not to be happy with the job we're doing"

Wtf?

He didn't address what is being done to stop the spread of the virus. All they're doing is talking about the economy, Trump didn't even mention the deaths.

It's as if he's trying to get his campaign rally therapy via the press conferences.

He spoke about NATO... It was just Rally topics over and over...

Nothing about the Pandemic, the actions the people need to take to stop the spread or stay safe.

I'm not a fan of #ScottyFromMarketing but at least he's been showing leadership and being open and frank with the people about the challenges we face and what we all need to be doing in the community, not just about the economy.

Trump went on about Fake News when a question was asked about the Easter timeline where he was getting that from given that all experts, medial and scientific are saying it's a terrible idea.

He's calling the expert advice fake news because it makes him look bad.

Funny how the other world leaders are not playing it down, rather they are tightening the isolation laws etc, One only needs to look at the growth in the worldwide spread from January to March to tell anyone with half a brain it wont be any better in two weeks.

And Trump doesn't have to go from 0 to 100 overnight. He can open the country back up in phases, checking for initial success before deciding whether to continue going forward or reverse course.

As for "tightening the isolation laws," Trump was already ahead of the game by isolating the entire nation from Chinese travelers in January and now Europeans as well. He shouldn't dictatorially order the nation shut down -- Individual states can handle their own isolation orders. The situation in a state like Montana is markedly different from that of New York.

And by the way, you can't shut down a nation's economy indefinitely without crashing the economy and creating even bigger problems.

That is true but all other leaders seem to think it has to be done to save lives, Donald is only worried about his ratings if the economy takes a hit rather than saving lives

And maybe they're wrong. Or maybe they're right ... when it comes to their country, but not ours.

At some point a leader has to make the call on when to open up his country again. Otherwise, the economy crashes, and all sorts of additional lengthier suffering begins. Ask the Venezuelans.

Right, it's peaking now ... as expected. Remember, you're talking about a country of 327 million people. And so far, the total number of deaths is nowhere near that of an average flu season.

We've got fewer than 600 deaths at last count -- far fewer than not only China (not surprisingly, since they hatched it), but also Italy, Spain and Iran. Considering the difference in population between the U.S. and those countries, I'd say we're doing pretty well.

As a first world country with first world health system I would expect that, and that is good, however with Trumps complacency on handling the issue I hate to think what will happen if he has his way and only worries about his election chances rather than American lives being lost the worry is if it gets out of hand with the hospitals being overrun and unable to cope. He has even been playing it down as something like the flu which is a message to the masses to not worry about it.

Well actually, Trump has been going on TV every day with key cabinet members and medical experts to give a comprehensive update. Then he holds a news conference that can last more than an hour.

So ... how exactly is that "playing it down"?

One thing's for certain: It would be far worse here if Trump hadn't ordered a halt to flights from China in January.
