The United States is about halfway through a 15-day period of social distancing.

“At the end of the 15-day period, we’ll make a decision as to which way we want to go, where we want to go, the timing – essentially we’re referring to the timing of the opening. Essentially the opening of our country,” said Mr Trump.
Red instead of swooping through doing your best Smith impersonation of calling everyone an idiot or a moron, then hysterically laughing before swooping out again, how about actually addressing points in a rational manner?

Here's a few very simple questions you may, or may not, be able to answer ...

1. What is your problem with reassessing the situation after a 15 day period of social distancing?

2. Do you agree with the travel ban in the face of the pandemic or do you agree with open borders?

3. Do you agree with the Democrats holding up the coronavirus survival package for all Americans because they want to add in the ideological green new deal and other unassociated BS?
1. Nothing wrong with planning that, but trying to talk down the situation as he continually does, often aimed at making himself look good is not what he should be doing with this terrible virus. He should be encouraging the lock downs and stay at home approach. His chief medical officer has had to correct him on one occasion I saw!

It aint going to be any better in two weeks and I am sure his advisors are telling him that, more likely drastically worse he shouldnt be creating false hopes, the man is self centred idiot!

America is one of the worst performing countries in handling this virus problem.

Australia is better although our figures have been made worse by such things as the lastest cruise ship incident in Sydney which contained many virus carriers

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

2. Travel ban definitely as much as possible

3. Parliaments tend to work that way, they are negotiating the package!

Do you know where the worst outbreaks in the US are? They are in the very districts that Schumer and Pelosi are refusing to help. The package isn't being 'negotiated'. In a crisis one would think these hacks would act in a bipartisan manner but they are trying to politicise it with unrelated pork barrelling at the expense of the people they lord it over. Governor Cuomo of NY, who is an avid Trump hater, and has a huge problem there has praised the way Trump is handling this.

A travel ban is not only sensible but imperative but when Trump tried to enact it in January Biden et al called him racist and xenophobic. The missing link Biden, the one you says has a brain, openly said that if he was in charge he would NOT enact a travel ban. He doesn't know what office he is running for, doesn't know what state he is rallying in and doesn't even know the name of the President he was Vice President for yet you support him over what Trump and the experts are doing.

Again, they aren't 'negotiating' the package. See the video I put up awhile ago (or any number of articles on the net) and see just how the leftists are 'negotiating'. They are trying to add crap into the Relief Bill that has nothing to do with COVID-19 and/or helping Americans. They are digging their own grave with this and can't fall into it fast enough. They should be lynched.

Wasting your time here, mate. Most of the posters here worship the ground that Trump walks on. He can do no wrong in their eyes. Silly, twisted and a waste of time people. You'll never convert them. :roll :roll

It's a leader's job to be reassuring and optimistic in the face of a threat.

By your standards, Churchill should have gotten on the radio and told his fellow countrymen, "Ladies and gentlemen, we are SCREWED!"

Like you know what the situation is going to be in 2 weeks? I'm sure that's based on extensive scientific analysis ...

And by the way, you can't shut down a nation's economy indefinitely without crashing the economy and creating even bigger problems.

Based on what?

We've got fewer than 600 deaths at last count -- far fewer than not only China (not surprisingly, since they hatched it), but also Italy, Spain and Iran. Considering the difference in population between the U.S. and those countries, I'd say we're doing pretty well.

One thing's for certain: It would be far worse here if Trump hadn't ordered a halt to flights from China in January.

Oh yeah, it'll really ease the virus-created woes of the average American if the Democrats succeed in achieving same-day voter registration, diversity quotas on corporations, and new emissions standards for airlines.

Can't you hear the chorus of cheers rising up from the populace: "NEW ... EMISSIONS ... STANDARDS! NEW ... EMISSIONS ... STANDARDS!"

Funny how the other world leaders are not playing it down, rather they are tightening the isolation laws etc, One only needs to look at the growth in the worldwide spread from January to March to tell anyone with half a brain it wont be any better in two weeks.
And by the way, you can't shut down a nation's economy indefinitely without crashing the economy and creating even bigger problems.
That is true but all other leaders seem to think it has to be done to save lives, Donald is only worried about his ratings if the economy takes a hit rather than saving lives

How about 9279 new cases since yesterday almost twice as many as both Spain and Italy. Highest in the world on latest figures

As a first world country with first world health system I would expect that, and that is good, however with Trumps complacency on handling the issue I hate to think what will happen if he has his way and only worries about his election chances rather than American lives being lost the worry is if it gets out of hand with the hospitals being overrun and unable to cope. He has even been playing it down as something like the flu which is a message to the masses to not worry about it.

Totally agree and great to see most countries have done the same with all flights from overseas

Actually I really dont know how the USA is going to contain this virus by flattening the curve

South Korea has contained it by massive testing and follow up of case spread. Admittedly it largely started there from some obscure christian religious groups gathering so easier to find who was involved.

One of the main problems with the US is the size of the country over 327 million made up of 50 states.

China was able to contain it by shutting virtually every Provence down, I dont know if the US especially with Trump at the helm is capable of that.

Boris seems to be doing a surprisingly good job in the UK.

Even dopey Morrison in Australia seems to be on top of it pretty well, having formed a National Cabinet of the leaders of all states and territories, they meets regularly and include the chief medical officers of these states to try and work from the same song chart of WHO advice. Admittedly that is relatively easy with a small country of 25 million (6 states/2 territories) I cant see how USA could do something similar so maybe they have to tackle it on a state by state basis
