Re: Night Owls Chit Chat
I'm 53 and I do pretty well until I take a break. I get really stiff when I try to get back up. I'm ok again after 10-15 minutes of work. The hard part is that I am camping in the house. The military has already moved their things. I'm sleeping on the floor. Daughter in law and granddaughter have moved in with friends until the house sells. My middle son and I got 2 bedrooms painted today. We are going to try to be finished Thursday. It's still Tuesday here.

It varies wildly across the US. I have a 4 bedroom house on 1 acre 30 minutesfromdowntownDallas. I paid $155k 17 years ago. Its worth a little over $300k now. The same house 30 minutes from downtown San Francisco would cost about $1.2M.BigP wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 8:07 amcamping is a little overrated in my opinion, If im on a hunting trip I will suffer the indignity lolTexan wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 7:48 amI'm 53 and I do pretty well until I take a break. Real estate is cheap in Wichita Kansas. My son played $89k for a 3br 1500 square foot with a full partially finished basement.
I refinanced 10 years ago for 15 years at 2.75%.

The house is painted and goes on the market Monday. I spent a night in a hotel to get cleaned and rested up and to spend one last evening with my granddaughter. She came to eat breakfast with me at the hotel before we left. I didn't want to leave her. Instead of wanting Mom, she stayed in my lap for almost an hour while we ate. I think she misses her dad in Korea.

You are a star from the lone star state Tex, There is a lot of mind numbingly hard graft in painting a house, and not everyone would do that for their kids,,You obviously have a tight familyTexan wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2020 3:17 amThe house is painted and goes on the market Monday. I wish you could say that to my wife. She is just jealous that I got to spend every evening this week with our granddaughter. Having an empty house made it easier. There was no furniture to move, cover, and move back. It was all patch, mask, and paint. My son got married under less than ideal circumstances.(with the baby on the way) My daughter in law comes from a semi-disfunctional family and we are trying to show her how a real family works. If painting their house impresses my daughter in law and makes them some money and takes some stress out of their marriage, it's worth it. I don't want to see my granddaughter grow up in a broken home.BigP wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2020 12:11 pmYou are a star from the lone star state Tex, There is a lot of mind numbingly hard graft in painting a house, and not everyone would do that for their kids,,You obviously have a tight familyTexan wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2020 3:17 amThe house is painted and goes on the market Monday. She has turned out to be a wonderful mother. She has common sense and is very protective of my granddaughter. She talks to my wife almost every day and I talk to her about twice per week. Now that our son is deployed, he video chats with his wife and us almost every day. We see more of him in Korea or the Middle East than we do when he is stateside.

I didn't forget. On the American forum I frequent, I changed my signature to celebrate Texas Independence day on March 2nd. I didn't think ya'll would care about it. Thank you for proving me wrong.BigP wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2020 12:19 pm""Dont forget the Alamo"" Tex, i note that its anniversary has just past, God bless Bowie ,Travis and Crockett, Men that come along but once in a generationTexan wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2020 3:17 amThe house is painted and goes on the market Monday. The Americas are a great place Tex, I would love to live there, The only thing that would put me off is the cost of health care, In NZ it is for all intents and purposes free,

Good news. I just made my last truck payment. She is officially Mrs. Texan's truck and now I can double down on mortgage payments. 3-4 years to being debt free unless I build a new home.
