Thank God it was a PS REPORT bringing reform, not the PS itself. It's already too powerful.
Tasmania is run by senior public servants - another reason to increase the parliament size again and get rid of the PS spinners.
The better I get to know people, the more I find myself loving dogs.

Wait for what? It's already started. Various agencies are merging into mega one stop shops. Centrelink/Medicare/Child Support; Disability Employment Services/ Rehabilitation Services; Job Service Providers/ Pre-vocational and training providers... and so it goes.

Oh hey... here's something new for those of you on New Start... I'm pretty sure I can spill the beans... NO MORE FORTNIGHTLY FORMS AS AT JULY... if we can get our systems right by then that is... and we are working on it. It's a part of the improving services initiatives coming through. It comes at a cost though... intensive 30 minute discussions on why you aint gotta job yet.
For what the report said. Thats right I knew about the merger of Centrelink/Medicare/etc.

Can you point me to the legislation that states that stuff please Sappho - the 30 minute interview.

Coming from a place of near complete ignorance when it comes to public service organisations: Is this ^^^ good or bad? (ie streamlining or making it a big, unwieldy, non-see-through animal?

Nice to see you Sappho! Stay around ! I am looking forward to what sexy avatar you will think of next :P
I am almost as ignorant but I think it would lift some of the stigma around the centrelink benefits once you include medicare and child support under the same roof as who knows what you're going in for.

That said they're also reimposing it but shifting the NT intervention quarantine income to the general population. Eva Cox writes a pretty good report on it here

It's much much better.

Lets look at people who are referred from Centrelink to CRS Australia for vocational support (and these people are struggling to gain employment due to some sort of physical or mental condition).

The policies of both organisations are very different, as are the the requirements for program participation etc. Clients coming from one to the other get confused about which rules to follow/what to do etc. It will be much much easier if all the files/policies/case records etc all come under the one umbrella.

It's also easier to track people who are trying to sponge.
