If by "popular election" you mean "popular vote," American does not have such things.brian ross wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2020 2:51 pmI have grasped what you are trying to do, Black Orchid, rather well. You are attempting some sleight-of-hand to diminish what Hilary Clinton did in 2016. She beat Trump (and all other candidates) in the election with the votes she received. Only through your false logic that more people voted against her than for her do you manage to that. Under the US Presidential voting system of first-past-the-post Hilary received the greatest number of votes. That is all that matters in the popular election of 2016.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2020 2:46 pmI'm sorry that you are incapable of grasping such a simple concept Brian but I am not at all surprised.brian ross wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2020 2:37 pmSo, it was just a one horse race in 2016, Black Orchid? Hilary was running purely by herself, not against any other candidates? Really? You're displaying your ignorance, once again. Hilary beat Trump and any other candidate, hands down.

America is not a democracy; it's a constitutional republic. We elect presidents via the Electoral College and have done so since the '80s.

And y'know, that really disappoints me. I mean, if you're going to be a troll, at least have the common decency to be good at it.

I had a hearty laugh when Trump delivered a speech at CPAC and mocked "Mini Mike" Bloomberg.sprintcyclist wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2020 1:45 amThis one has always been a fav for meThe4thEstate wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 3:39 pmSorry, I'm fresh out of troll food.

@ CEO
Given your entire premise is based on this proposition, you most certainly do need a source. Or even better still, a well constructed argument in your own words explaining why you think Trump is a ‘nazi’.- Trump is a nazi. (Do I really need a source?)

Really? Then why do you hold an election every four years where the mass of the population is called to cast a ballot, 4E?The4thEstate wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2020 12:41 amIf by "popular election" you mean "popular vote," American does not have such things.brian ross wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2020 2:51 pmI have grasped what you are trying to do, Black Orchid, rather well. It decides who represents the population in Congress through a Democratic electoral process. It elects the el Presidente through a Democratic electoral process. Looks like a modern liberal democracy to me. If the cap fits, why are you so afraid of wearing it, 4E?America is not a democracy; it's a constitutional republic. Because you don't know what the term "popular vote" means in the context of U.S. elections. Here, I'll throw you a bone. Read and learn:brian ross wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2020 1:45 pmReally? https://www.diffen.com/difference/Elect ... pular_Vote
The candidate who gets the most votes nationwide is said to have won the popular vote. But the winner of the popular vote may end up losing the election, like Al Gore did in 2000 and Hillary Clinton in 2016 ... This is because although Americans vote directly for their chosen candidate in the presidential election every 4 years, the president is elected by the institution called the Electoral College.

The more relevant question is, why are you so afraid of accuracy?brian ross wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2020 1:45 pmIt decides who represents the population in Congress through a Democratic electoral process. From columnist Walter Williams in the Daily Signal:
https://www.dailysignal.com/2018/01/17/ ... democracy/The word democracy does not appear in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, or any other of our founding documents.
That's because the Founding Fathers wanted it that way.
Williams again:
.John Adams warned in a letter, "Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide."
So the choice comes down to deciding whether to believe the Founding Fathers or believe you. Gee, what a tough decision ...
