Yes if you go to hospital in Australia the chances are
that any specialist you see is a person of Chinese descent.
They are very good at the most difficult professions.
The Chinese are more intelligent than us - on average.

They are not "more intelligent", Bobby. They just work and study harder than most Australians. That is why they excel at University.

No - I remember my university days -
the Chinese were always getting better marks than me and just
about everyone else.
I used to ask some of them to help me with difficult maths problems and
they would laugh as they showed me because for them, it was so easy.

They are definitely very clever people.

In reality, Chinese people come from a culture which drives it's kids hard to study hard and excel in their studies. Compare that to Australia where the kids are not made to study and not expected to excel. If you had studied as hard as they had, perhaps you wouldn't have needed their help, Bobby.

They aren't any smarter. They are just trained to study hard from an early age. I kept up with them in college, but they had been studying hard since high school. I had to bust my bottom to stay up because I was immature in high school, but I did it. I've forgotten much of it now, but I did get through Calculus 3, Differential Equations, Statics, Dynamics, Physics, Chemistry, Quantum Physics, and my major related classes. I even tutored my oldest through Physics, Calculus 1, and after that I just double checked his Algebra for mistakes in Calculus 2 and 3. I do field services for several Japanese and Korean companies. If Americans were that slow, they would provide technicians before hiring Americans. We still get a better education and that's why they send their students here for college. (Probably the same down under)

Asian culture encourages studying long and hard from an early age. The white kids and hispanic kids are encouraged to study, but they are encouraged to be in team sports and there is some merit in that.

Immigrant hispanic kids start learning behind everyone else. They must learn our language before they can study hard. Often their parents never bother to learn English and they use their kids as interpreters. These kids don't get much help from their parents.

More Black kids come from broken homes. Parenting is lacking in general. (There are exceptions as always.) Black kids are more likely to see sports as their only option for advancement. They dominate professional sports because that's what they were raised to do. To some blacks, studying hard is yielding to non-black culture and shunned. (idiots)

These are all generalizations and I can name personal exceptions for all of them.

I have a story from a primary school teacher.
A little Chinese girl joined the class at about the age of 7 or 8 at the start of the school year.
The teacher was shocked when she saw that the kid didn't speak a word of English.
To cut a long story short -
the little Chinese girl was - at the end of the school year -
the top of the class in every subject.

I have a friend who immigrated from Mexico when he was 12. He learned English and was working at Texas Instruments as an electrical engineer when he was 23. He is 29 now and oversees the facilities maintenance for the production of billions in microchips.

It happens and equally the opposite happens -
I know 2 people who have a string of University degrees including
each of them having a PhD yet their lives have been a dismal failure.
They are now old.
They both spent most of their lives unemployed and one went completely mad.

Yes one of those I know ended up at a psychologist for evaluation
and when he took a special test he had a social age of 14.
He was incapable of small talk and socialising with anyone.

Australian researchers will share in a $2 million federal grant fund to develop a vaccine for coronavirus.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced the cash pool at the Peter Doherty Institute in Melbourne on Tuesday where experts were the first to grow coronavirus outside of China.

"We are going to be putting that money into a competitive program to find a vaccine," Mr Morrison told reporters.

"There are many research projects that are going on around the world to do this very task, and Australia is going to play its part in that process.

"We want to get as many of the brightest and smartest minds in Australia, working on this task."

Researchers from across the country will be able to apply for money from the Medical Research Future Fund in hope of developing a coronavirus vaccine.
