Now the evil vile Greenies are shamed over burning Australia down to the ground ScoMo is kicking these evil creatures while they are down.

The Greeny controlled Labor Party is scared the Greenies will do something desperate.

But boy is THIS election winning stuff or what ?

Two coal-fired and hydroelectric power projects being explored for Qld

The federal government says it will spend up to $6 million on two new Queensland electricity generation projects – including a coal-fired power plant – as part of a bid to lower power prices.

About $2 million has been set aside for a pre-feasibility study on a 1.5 gigawatt hydroelectric plant to be developed as part of the planned Urannah Water Scheme, while up to $4 million will support a feasibility study for a 1GW "high efficiency, low emissions" coal plant at Collinsville.

"We are supporting two promising new generation projects to deliver the reliable, affordable power that the north Queensland economy needs to grow and thrive," Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack said.

Energy Minister Angus Taylor said the projects were important to meet the power needs of people in central and north Queensland.

"Our plan to unlock investment in new reliable generation capacity will increase competition, keep the lights on and lower prices to better support our commercial and industrial sector so they can employ more Australians and remain internationally competitive," he said.

But Labor's climate change and energy spokesman, Mark Butler, said private investors wouldn't  touch a new coal-fired power station "with a barge pole".

"The government still has no energy policy, just ideological flights of fantasy," he told reporters on Saturday.

He said the private investment sector had made it very clear that it had no appetite for building expensive coal-fired power stations.

"If the industry itself won't touch this project, why should taxpayers foot the bill," Mr Butler said.

It's very standard normal business practise. That's all.

If they did NOT do this and built a coal fired power station it could be a massive failure.

Oh definitely...who does the feasibility survey...one of Hockeys mates...one of scumos mates....
Excuse my cynicism...but its par for the course these days with political "efforts"...….

Now talking of feasibility studies - does anyone recall the 5 minute "feasibility" study done on the back of a beer coaster by Kruddy and Co into the NeverBuiltNetwork or NBN ?

Why even sag grapes Malcolm did a multi million study into his Snowy 2 power project.

Modern dynamic realist Matt Canavan unleashes a torrent of smelly stuff on the shamed evil vile Greenies who burnt Australia down to the ground.

He has coined an absolute lulu rubbishing the Greenies useless renewables describing them as,
“Renewable energy can complement our energy needs but renewables do not run all the time making them unsuitable to support manufacturing jobs.

“Renewables are the dole bludgers of the energy system, they only turn up to work when they want to.”

Matt Canavan launches defence of plans for new coal-fired power station
RENEE VIELLARIS, Federal Political Editor, The Courier-Mail February 10, 2020 12:00am

AN UNLEASHED Matt Canavan has launched a strident defence of a new Collinsville coal-fired power station, describing renewables as the “dole bludgers” of the energy world, firing his first shot from the backbench in the new political battle facing the Morrison Government.

The former resources minister, who has pledged to be constructive and fight for policies that affect regional and rural Australians, today outlines concerns about manufacturing jobs, and why without coal and gas, they could become harder to support.

While Queensland will be his focus, Senator Canavan is also likely to spend political capital on his concerns about the high number of Victorian manufacturing workers at-risk of losing their jobs because of the debate about coal and climate change.

It comes as Senator Canavan is also planning a number of private members’ bills to introduce into the Senate, likely to be centred on tax and families.

The former economist stunned colleagues last week when he quit Cabinet to support the leadership ambition of his former boss, Barnaby Joyce, who Senator Canavan believes can best fight for the bush.

Privately, some Cabinet colleagues have expressed concerns about how damaging Senator Canavan could be on the backbench, given his work ethic, intellect, cut-though and willingness to pick fights on substance.

The Courier-Mail revealed last year that Senator Canavan had a heated and expletive-laden exchange about supporting a new coal-fired power station in Collinsville, which has now received Federal Government funding for a feasibility study.

Writing in today’s Courier-Mail, Senator Canavan says, without reliable energy, manufacturing jobs were at risk, plus a new coal-fired generator would help Central Queensland.

“North Queensland does not have a power station,” he said.

“North of Rockhampton there is no power station the can remain on for 24 hours a day.

“Renewable energy can complement our energy needs but renewables do not run all the time making them unsuitable to support manufacturing jobs.

“Renewables are the dole bludgers of the energy system, they only turn up to work when they want to.”

The great man lays the law down and flushes the sick diseased Greenies who burnt Australia to the ground down the toilet.

While AnAl slobbers in fright like the Greeny controlled lap dog he is.

So we taxpayers can fund renewables,an unreliable expensive power source but not coal that is cheap and reliable. Someone please tell me how that works?

Scott Morrison backs coal as key jobs provider

Scott Morrison says he would back any jobs from a new coal-fired power station in central Queensland as Labor attempts to exploit divisions in Coalition ranks over government support for a new generator in Collinsville.

The Prime Minister refused to take a position on whether he would agree to a request from Shine Energy to provide indemnity against climate risk if the Collinsville project goes ahead, which Australian Industry Group estimates could cost $17 billion.

“I know where Collinsville is, (Labor) might not. I know where the jobs are in Collinsville also,” Mr Morrison told parliament on Wednesday.

“Our government believes in jobs. We believe in jobs in North Queensland. We believe in jobs in northern Tasmania. We believe in jobs in Western Australia.

“Right across the country we believe in jobs and we believe in ensuring that manufacturing continues to be able to get access to the reliable power it needs to ensure that they can support jobs and livelihoods into the future.”

The Morrison government on the weekend committed to a $4 million feasibility study on whether the planned Shine Energy coal project was viable.

The announcement has sparked division within the government, with Queensland Nationals pushing for taxpayer support of the coal plant despite the strong opposition of city Liberal MPs.

Anthony Albanese has condemned the push for a new coal-fired station despite there being no Labor policy that opposes their construction.

Labor MPs have said any new coal-fired power station needs to be financially viable without taxpayer support and pass through federal environmental approvals.

But there is no Labor policy that opposes the construction of coal generators if they are fully funded by industry.

Mr Albanese said on Wednesday there was no economic case for a new coal power station and that one could only be built with taxpayer support.

While the Labor leader would not rule out all coal-fired power station projects, he said: “I don’t think there is a place for new coal fired power plants in Australia.”

“The truth is that no private sector operation will touch a new coal fired power plant with a barge pole,” Mr Albanese told the ABC

“What Labor wants to see is investment in clean energy, I don’t think there is a place for new coal fired power plants in Australia.”

Some Labor MPs believe Mr Albanese needs to balance his criticism of coal generators with supportive language of the industry, which employs tens of thousands of workers in Queensland and the NSW Hunter Valley.

Labor frontbencher Michelle Rowland also criticised the putting taxpayer funds into a feasibility study for the Collinsville project but declared Labor would not stand in the way of a private company building a new generator.

“If those processes are followed, if the finances stack up, then that consortium or that individual with a lazy couple of billion dollars to spare would go through those processes.” she said.

She also combined her critique with a wholehearted backing of the coal industry.

“Labor recognises that coal will continue to play an important role in our energy mix in the decades to come. We are not going to be a party that abandons people who work in the coal sector,” she said.

“If Australia isn’t selling coal to export markets, someone else will.”
