So you think I consider you an old enemy? Nahhh ... you're taking yourself way too seriously, my man! I don't regard you as an enemy -- if anything, I view you more as a resident class clown in search of attention than a nefarious disparager of my fatherland.

My, thats a relief, 4E. What a relief you don't stop and think about why I disparage your "fatherland". :rofl
Already covered that territory: Let's see ... you dislike the current president because ... well, because lefty groupthink has decreed that it's cool to dislike the current president, so naturally you think likewise.

Oh, and then there's the golden oldies stuff you like to drag out of your closet whenever you can't think of anything current to bash America about. Like, you're outraged that the U.S. interfered in the internal affairs of Bouvet Island in 1823 or something.

I'm not even criticizing you for your criticism of America. I'm simply pointing out your hypocrisy in claiming to want an American leader who doesn't meddle in other nations' affairs -- especially using the U.S. military -- then jumping on the lefty bandwagon even after Trump declared in his State of the Union address that "I am not looking to kill hundreds of thousands of people in Afghanistan, many of them innocent. It is also not our function to serve other nations as a law enforcement agency. ... We are working to finally end America’s longest war and bring our troops back home!"

Just goes to show, I don't pay that much attention to the US's politics.
So why not pay a little more attention to the U.S.'s policies before commenting on the president who's implementing them? Imagine that, doing your homework and actually knowing what you're talking about!

What a shame though, that he doesn't follow his words with actions. Now, if he was genuinely interested in not slaughtering people he'd extend a hand of friendship, without demands to the leaders of Iran/DPRK/Syria/Palestine and other countries. Tsk, tsk, that he doesn't, right? The peoples of those countries deserve help, not greater oppression and the threat of military might, right?
Huh? Trump IS following his words with actions. When Iran shot down a U.S. drone, Trump called off a planned strike on an Iranian target because he wanted to avoid casualties.

Here, I'll save you the trouble of having to read up on how to use Google:
https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/preside ... d=63853570

As ABC News reported:
"In a series of tweets, he said, 'We were cocked & loaded to retaliate last night on 3 different sights when I asked, how many will die. 150 people, sir, was the answer from a General. 10 minutes before the strike I stopped it, not ... proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone.'"

As for the Palestinians, he just proposed a peace plan in late January. He has also announced his willingness to renegotiate a deal with Iran -- IF they start acting like responsible members of the international community.

I mean, what else do you want from the guy? Should Trump offer to buy the Ayatollah a new goat with sexy hips?
If Bernie had said that, you'd be posting it in boldface 72-point type with a frame around it and lighting candles for it every night. But we both know that you won't do the same for Trump's declaration, because you're not into substance -- you're into virtue signaling.
brian ross wrote:

Bernie didn't say that, now did he, though? El Presidente' Trump is a buffoon.
Says the guy who just admitted that he doesn't pay that much attention to the U.S's policies.

What a scholarly critique!

No, I dislike Trump 'cause he is a buffoon. He makes ludicrous statements which are not borne out by reality. I am unsure why you think he is qualified to hold the office of el Presidente' except because he won the Electoral College election. He wasn't the most popular of the candidates and he wasn't the smartest of them either.

Oh, I forget, Americans don't understand irony nor self-disparaging comments all that well, do they, 4E? I pay quite a bit of attention to news coming out of the US. It amuses me, even if it upsets the rest of my family. They just can't understand how Trump manages to survive as el Presidente. I know if you had a parliamentary system he'd be toast on day one's question time. :rofl

You mean the one where he gives Israel everything they wanted and ignores the Palestineans' real needs? A one state solution which solves nothing. Israel will still be fighting the Palestinians (unless they have ethnically cleansed them all) in 100 years.
I mean, what else do you want from the guy? Should Trump offer to buy the Ayatollah a new goat with sexy hips?
If it would bring peace between the US and Iran, then yes, that would be a good idea.

You appear to forget that Iran has good reason to hate the US. Remember that fun guy that the US installed as ruler of Iran? The Shah, of course. I actually thought that the nuclear agreement would start to solve all the problems between Washington and Tehran but I was mistaken. Tsk, tsk. :roll

Well, Trump was the most popular candidate in the places that counted -- namely, the states that added up to the most electoral votes.

As for the smartest, he obviously knows something about how to get a national economy humming, giving current statistics. Whereas Hillary's main contribution to America's economic prosperity is her pantsuit budget.

Gee, have you checked the American stock market lately? It's in record high territory.

Also, America is no longer energy-dependent on the whims of the Middle East. In fact, under Trump, we're on track to become a net energy exporter this year for the first time since 1953.
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/01/24/us-beco ... -says.html

Meanwhile, unlike Obama, who tried to woo the Iranian mullahs by delivering pallets of American currency, Trump has Iran in a financial squeeze, resulting in a 40 percent inflation rate. Really, why attack a hostile nation with your military when you can undermine it internally?

I suspect that you and your family get most of your news from the establishment media, whose coverage of Trump is more than 90 percent negative. That's like trying to understand Israeli politics by reading the Gaza Gazette.

You can say that, but where's your evidence that Trump wasn't ready for war? On the contrary, he's spent billions of dollars on upgrading the military since Obama allowed it to degrade.

Well, when has anyone offered the Palestinians a better deal?

It's not a matter of what the Palestinians want. We both know that given the choice, they'd ask for the destruction of Israel.

Quite frankly, I couldn't care less if the Palestinians accept or reject the offer. They've been sucking on the teat of civilized Western nations for too many years anyway -- and like Trump, I'm disinclined to send milions of aid dollars to a place where people danced in the streets after 9/11.

Actually, Trump's policies are already bringing peace between the U.S. and Iran -- on our terms. His sanctions have thrown the Iranian economy into a tailspin, and instead of launching military strikes with heavy collateral damage, he caused far greater consternation in Tehran (not to mention tears from the Ayatollah) by whacking Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

And I haven't even mentioned the popular uprising from within.

And Japan could hold a grudge for that 1945 airmail delivery on Hiroshima (even though they struck first). However, some nations are smart enough and civilized enough to enter into mutually beneficial relationships.

So did Obama. Like you, he was naive enough to think that if he gave them billions of dollars, the Iranians wouldn't cheat on the agreement.
