You silly Billy -

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/f/forcemajeure.asp

What Is Force Majeure?

Force majeure refers to a clause that is included in contracts to remove liability for natural and unavoidable catastrophes that interrupt the expected course of events and restrict participants from fulfilling obligations.

As time goes on, the world is becoming aware of natural threats we were previously ignorant of, such as solar flares, asteroids, and super-volcanoes. We are also developing new human threats, such as cyber, nuclear, and biological warfare capabilities. These have raised questions about what is and is not "foreseeable" in a legal sense.

We are also becoming increasingly aware of human agency in events that have generally been considered "external" or "acts of God," such as climatic and seismic events.

Interesting to read various reports on cancellation of flights by passengers/people wondering about refunds
for those stuck on the cruise ship..etc etc...
Hopefully they will discover "force majeure" will guarantee them a refund.....
"unforeseeable circumstances which prevent someone from fulfilling a contract.."
You silly billy -

force majeure means the insurance can get out of paying a penny.

I was right so I want an apology from silly Billy.

Agree

I heard on the news this morning that there are apparently no reported cases in Indonesia which sounds unbelievable for a country of 200 million people with lots of Chinese.

Also they are not placing incoming Chinese in any quarantine so wait for the explosion of cases there is my prediction.

I posted my concern about that in the main Ozpol thread 5 days ago. There were direct flights from WuHu to Bali with no quarantine so stay away from Bali Bogans.

This is from the Info minister of health.

.But health minister Terawan Agus Putranto told citizens to relax, advising that they could avoid the disease by not working overtime.

“To prevent it is very easy as long as your immunity is good,” he said. “Don’t fret. Just enjoy and eat enough.”

That is wrong.
The insurance companies will get out of paying
by claiming force majeure.

Apologise you obnoxious prick.

Get your head around this fuckwit...
Passenger pays for trip to China
Corona virus becomes "apparent"
Passenger cancels flight due to corona virus fears.
Airline refuses to refund fares.
Passenger sues airline, claiming force majeure allows him to rescind contract.
Airline joins insurance company as co defendant, as insurance company claims force majeure
rescinds their contract with airline to cover cancellations...presuming their contract has a force
majeure clause inserted therein....
Court finds in favour of passenger as virus is classified as "unforeseeable circumstance" and rescinds
contract between passenger and airline.
Another example is where A contracts with B to purchase goods.
The goods have to be shipped from overseas.
The goods are destroyed by storm.
Both A and B know that there is a possibility of storm.
A/B insures the goods with insurance company C.
There is no force majeure clause within the contract, otherwise, if the goods are destroyed at sea,
A/B loses everything.
This is why advice is given not to include force majeure clauses in some contracts.
If A contracts to buy a house from B and before contracts are exchanged, the house is destroyed by fire/flood/tornado
The contract cannot be enforced as there is no house to sell/buy.
The contract is rescinded due to the doctrine of frustration.
The buyer cant even sue for specific performance...
Do you understand the difference between the doctrine of frustration and the doctrine of force majeure and the
doctrine of specific performance....
I think you understand sweet fuck all.....
