US concern over Australian internet filter

The US government says it has concerns about Australia's plan to introduce a mandatory internet filter.

The Federal Government wants to force internet service providers to block offensive material, including child pornography and instructions for criminal activity, from overseas websites.

The Government is facing growing pressure from anti-censorship and internet groups to drop the idea.

Now the US government has added its voice to those expressing concern ..

I think they are doing it to curry favor with the fucking christian Lobby. Fuck christians, the worst kind of people there are.

Most likely, the Bill will be introduced to the Senate just before the election, be referred to a committee and dies there--but Rudd can say he carried out what he promised.

Well heck, he hasn't delivered on any of his other promises- why should this one be any different?

Rudd is steadily implementing or attempting to implement his promises.
He is doing it slowly and surely, the same way a good Project Manager would do a bit by bit.
It is well known that Rudd is a bit of a wonk, in more ways than one, I believe he'd be keeping an eye on the KPIs.

It's just a shame previous governments didn't do this with other international events. There's only so much you do before you decide a project is not worth the cost.

That said I oppose the filter.

He's had nigh on 3 years to do something, anything with health and all we get now is a swag of promises to do something come 2014.

Frankly his rollout has been botched and innefficient
