What is it like back home

Post by Super Nova » Mon Mar 29, 2010 11:27 am

All,

I have been living overseas for 12 years. Know f..kall about what is happening at home except for reading the Age on-line and this site.

Currently in the UK and what a shit hole it is becoming. If labour get in again you can kiss this country goodbye.

Thinking about coming home to Melbourne.

What is it like in Aust today?
How has it changed in the last 10 years?
I left before the GST... how is that going?
I see house prices going through the roof... is this a good thing? Have the salaries gone up much?

I feel labour has done a shit job here. Spend spend spend... run up debt in the good times and now.... they have stuffed the coutry.

At least in oz we had the liberals in power during the good times and now I suppose labour will spend spend spend until we are in the shit again. Is that a reasonable view for an outsider to take?

That's a reasonable view for anyone to take. At least anyone with their eyes open

fu.ken labour here. The paper reported that anyone over the average income has gone backwards in the last ten years.

They are now increasing tax to 50%... attacking pensions... man it is going down hill.

I really growing to hate all that labour stands for in the UK. I am heading right ---> at the rate of knots.

Why don't you migrate to Greece? Or Spain? Or Ireland? Only 15% unemployment there.

Under Labor the deficit caused by all Costello's cuts to top income tax rates will be paid off in not many years, the deficit for this year is reducing sharply because we did not go into recession. Now with mining boom #2 gathering steam the debt & deficit will be gone very shortly. Imagine if we did not have a populist PM 2001-7 buying elections with the proceeds of the mining boom!

The UK is much better off than most EU countries, even Germany has 8+% unemployment and growing.

Greece is stuff - needs Eu to bail it out.
Spain - in deap shite
Ireland - no jobs there. Country has crashed now property boom is over. All the investment in jobs is moving to eastern europe. The unemployment here is less than 15% however the ecconomy is stuffed.

I always wonder... what do you produce here in the UK.... they said we don't need to produce anything... we have banking.... we do services. ha ha ha now they are in for it.
