Bad drivers

Post by sprintcyclist » Sat Dec 28, 2019 5:33 pm

.......... A woman has been given 34 demerit points and fined almost $2,000 after she was caught allegedly using her mobile phone while driving with four passengers who did not have seatbelts on in the Blue Mountains.

Police officers stopped the woman after claiming she was using a mobile phone while driving through a roundabout in Katoomba yesterday afternoon.

Officers also allege none of the passengers in her vehicle — three children and a man — were wearing seat belts.

The woman has been issued with one penalty notice for using her phone and four others for each of her unrestrained passengers.

She was also fined $1,793. ....................

Is it 10 pts and your license is lost?

You get 13 points on a full unrestricted licence in NSW, I think.

Mobile phone 📱 use in cars is at epidemic proportions at the moment...

There is new tech that they are trialing now that is catching 10s of thousands over a couple of months...

They are not being fined yet but after the trial ... look out...

I’m driving a fair distance to work and back right now and i see them every single day .. if I’m quick enough I’ll toot my horn at them.. .

But they are easy to spot... they are usually drifting over the white line of going off the side of the road before correcting themselves...

At traffic lights .. the same... take a look around and you’ll see

Cars should be equipped with a device that disables your phone as soon as the engine starts.

It's a real problem here with people texting on their phones whilst driving. It's hard enough walking and trying to avoid swarms of people all with their heads down and fingers texting.

When I lived in Perth, I was followed along the Freeway for about five kilometres by a fool who was texting at 100 km/h. I quickly moved over out of the fast lane and allowed him to pass. Fools like that are intent on killing themselves and others with the heads stuck in their phones. :roll :roll

If everybody does it, why is it illegal? I can't see any difference between talking on a mobile phone and talking to a passenger sitting next to you. You could say that the driver is not using both hands on the wheel. But in most situations, many people only have one hand on the wheel anyway. Not to mention the loads of people driving to work sucking on paper cups full of petrol station coffee, as well as eating pies or maccas as they cruise down the road.

people dont talk on phones much these days its mostly text....they are so brain washed into using their thumbs on these keyboards they cant help themselves...many use two thumbs......so yes a driver needs to take his.her eyes off the road AND YES THEY DO....is driving with NO HANDS worse than DRIVING WITH NO EYES??? I would imagine that would be hard to monitor....... in todays conditions where speed has increase and cars are more powerful than ever before..... not forgetting how bullet proof we think we are??? tsk tsk.

Im still at a loss to understand why its necessary to create an offence for phone users.
In my opinion "drive manner dangerous" which carries a term of imprisonment
should have been utilised from day one.
Once again our gutless politicians go for the soft option and look at the mess its
created.
Someone tell me why use of a phone isn't classified as driving in a manner dangerous.....
