I have never heard of anybody having to sell their house for Chemo treatment!
Me either!

BUT the public hospital system is cutting down and trying to push people elsewhere because it is abused by those who don't speak English, shall we say. Sorry if that offends some people but it's the truth.

I see another 2 million Australian peasants are cost cutting by opting out of private health cover.
If we consider that a few million peasants are pensioners and a few million are children, then the 2 million
leaving private health cover, out of the remaining population, that's a sizeable percentage....
AND private health cover is going up again next year by 3.27 %
That's the way...keep screwing the peasants..... :rofl
I suppose in reality, we have to get the $18.8 billion we just spent on a concocted date on the calendar (Christmas)
from somewhere....
Maybe next week we'll all be driving on bald tyres….cant afford tyres...no money....pft…. :rofl
Why would anybody pay for Private Health cover? To be admitted to a Private Hospital? (is the food any better?) or get your own "Specialist"?

Medicare covers just about everything. If you are chronologically ill, sure Private Health might be an option, but you will still go into a Public Hospital and eat the crap they serve.

I have never heard of anybody having to sell their house for Chemo treatment!
Not sure of the technicalities, but a mate of mine has been paying for private health insurance because of his income.
Apparently if you earn more than a certain amount, you get hit with an additional 1 to 1.5% medicare surcharge levy if you don't have private health insurance. If you have private health insurance, you only pay the original 2%...
So he pays for private health insurance to avoid the surcharge...(advice from his accountant...)
Its all in the fine print apparently....
I haven't paid for private health insurance since the 80s.....
I always thought that all you got for your money if you paid for private health insurance was your choice
of doctor and a private bed...your doctor may never turn up and you're correct...you still may end up in a
public ward bed....Bupa apparently charge an excess of $500 every time you go to hospital...on top of your
premiums....
I think its all a con......
To discover those who rule over you, first discover those who you cannot criticize...Voltaire
Its coming...the rest of the world versus islam....or is it here already...

If you are taken to the hospital in an emergency it doesn't matter if you have private health cover or not. You will be taken to the closest suitable hospital and you will get whichever Doctor is on call at the time. You also won't get a private room unless one is available and they rarely are available.

My son has top cover and has been hospitalised twice in the last few months. He never got a private room nor a choice of Doctor. The private rooms were all full.

Private health cover is only useful if you pre-book for certain surgeries. How many people do that?

Exactly.

We have an excellent Medicare system and if you are young and working, you don't need Private Health, unless you travel or do a lot of sports or whatever. Those who want "elective" surgery definitely need to have Private Heath but can still wait for a very long time.

I just heard on the news that gas prices could shortly double and we only have stores for 35 days YET we have reserves (just in NSW alone) that would cover us for 174 years but can't tap it thanks to the Greens/ALP and those totally against fossil fuels.

Meanwhile small business are closing their doors.
Too many nations are buying into climate change fanaticism, which more closely resembles a religion these days.

I suspect it's just a front for the imposition of socialism. Give government most of your money and control over your life, because gosh, we have to save the planet and BIg Brother can do it better than you.

Plus, only a naive fool would trust the Paris climate accord when it doesn't require China -- the world's largest spewer of CO2 -- to do anything for 15 years. That's your first hint that the fix is in.

Confirmation for your opinion comes from Australia. In response to the HIGW scare, the Australian government created a new public service position, that of "climate commissioner". The Left just loves government creating new and useless government departments to give their mates well paying non jobs with very generous government superannuation benefits.

Australia's "climate commissioner", Tim Flannery, then proceeded to stick his foot very firmly in his mouth. He predicted that "the dams will never fill again", only to watch Brisbane and Townsville get submerged when their dams overflowed. He next bought a waterside villa which seems to suggest he is not too worried about rising sea levels. But his most notable quote was when he announced that HIGW consequences were so serious, that the Australian government "should call out the army" to stop Australian citizens from complaining about the implementation of the policies he was demanding.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, a Greens politician praised the Red Chinese government's ability to suppress it's own people's wishes, and do whatever it thought was necessary to "protect" them.

Yep, there's certainly no indication of lefty fondness for socialism/communism in that comment, is there?

Speaking of lefty comments, global warmer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. lamented in 2008: "In Virginia, the weather also has changed dramatically. Recently arrived residents in the northern suburbs, accustomed to today's anemic winters, might find it astonishing to learn that there were once ski runs on Ballantrae Hill in McLean, with a rope tow and local ski club. Snow is so scarce today that most Virginia children probably don't own a sled."

The following year, during the winter of 2009-2010, four major snowstorms hit Virginia, including a couple of blizzards. Total snow accumulation was as much as 77 inches (196 cm).

I'm guessing that at least a few Virginia children went sledding.

Whilst Australia burns, scumo seizes on a photo opportunity with the Australian Cricket team and once again
sticks his foot in his mouth with his absolute bullshit speech...
This turd is not fit to be the janitor, let alone prime minister of this country...
If he's not being filmed waving his hands in the air with those imbecile Pentecostals, he's
off on holidays to Hawaii, or posing with the cricketers...
Maybe he should pray harder to the invisible man in the sky for the fires to be extinguished by rain....
What...... no answer.....you aren't praying hard enough scumo…… :rofl
Maybe you used your last prayer when you fluked the election...... :rofl
Unbelievable...just unbelievable....

Don't worry the party will just do what both parties do relentlessly nowadays. They will stab him in the back.

I wouldn't mind if Dutton won this time though. :thumb
