Isolation does not solve anybody's problems, Tex. It has failed your nation and it will continue to fail the US. What is needed is not less engagement but more. I understand that less than a quarter of your Congress people have passports and have travelled overseas. I'd suggest that say, 75% would be a better figure. Get out there and experience the world! Learn about it. Discover what other people think and why they think the way they do. It would do Americans the world of good. The USA is NOT the world. :Hi
You complained earlier about the U.S. "invading one country or another."

Now you're complaining that isolation "has failed your nation and it will continue to fail the U.S."

So the U.S. is too much of an interventionist at the same time it's too much of an isolationist? O-kayyyy ...

As usual you only look at the extremes, 4E. What I am proposing would be better is a middle road. Neither Isolationist or interventionist too much. Choose your conflicts better is what I'd suggest. I know such subtle thinking is hard for you and your cronies but hey, at least make an effort. :roll :roll

Why are you interested in what I say, Neferti? Why aren't you criticising all the other Australians who have contributed to this thread? I though you didn't care? Tsk, tsk. :roll

You are a boring old sod, Brian.

I don't mind hearing what the REAL Americans say (and they are being very polite to you), you just muddy the water and make Aussies look idiotic. Cease and desist!

But ... but ... but they're YOUR extremes!

And you only proposed a middle road just now because I called you out on your contradictory complaining.

Before that you were babbling on about Congress traveling overseas and experiencing the world, etc. And who knows if your statistic is even accurate? As usual, you don't cite any source, credible or otherwise.

In the meantime, if you're going to keep talking about of both sides of your mouth, at least let us know which side eventually wins the argument!
