What he said.^^^

Redneck,

I've been curious how you picked your name. From what I gather, the term we use in the US "redneck" is similar to what you call "bogans". Redneck is used as a derogatory term by some or as a self deprecating and affectionate term by others. When someone cobbles a device together on the spur of the moment with whatever is available, we call it "redneck engineering" as an example. A group of fishermen with bass boats on the lake and a beer in their hands can be called a "redneck yacht club". The term supposedly began in America used on uneducated people who worked blue collar jobs outdoors and often were sunburned on their necks.

Actually I recall now it was on a forum where a certain pain in the arse religious nut was giving some unmarried mothers some gripe about everything anyway I decided to join up as a proud Redneck that was not paying any taxes, on the dole but screwing the government for everything and driving the latest 4WD and living in luxury. I targeted a number of others on there and did get some good reactions at the time as being a bludger screwing the government!
