Lebanese knife fight in Melbourne.
Man fighting for life after brawl at Somerton function centre.
The floor was covered in blood
as the knife-wielding man lunged at several people in the group - leaving one fighting for his life.
Three men had to undergo surgery and the 29-year-old man remains in a critical condition.
A man is fighting for life and six others were hospitalised after a brawl at a function centre at Somerton in Melbourne's north.
Police were called to La Mirage Reception and Convention Centre on the Hume Highway about 1.50am on Saturday, where they found eight men with various injuries.
Paramedics assessed seven men at the scene and took six of them to hospital with upper body injuries.
A 29-year-old man remained in The Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition on Saturday afternoon.
Five other men – aged in their 20s to 50s – were taken to hospital in a stable condition.
The group had been attending the concert of Lebanese pop star Fares Karam at the venue but had been kicked out earlier that night.
They then returned to the venue around 2am, confronting staff about having to pay for corkage, 7 News reported.

What kind of lawless freaks are being brought to our country?
Anyone who would carve up 6 people over a few
dollars of corkage fee doesn't even deserve a trial.
We need the army to come to Melbourne and string them up
from gallows every day till we get rid of them.

If they are not Australian citizens, then put them on the next plane to Lebanon with the sure knowledge that they can never return. If they have obtained Australian citizenship after immigrating, start proceedings to strip them of their citizenship. As assassinated MLA John Newman once so aptly said 'The only thing they fear is deportation."

Why are miscreants and law-breakers considered the result of Multiculturalism?
If that sort of logic was applied to Australian citizens, it would be so much worse for them than a mere prison sentence would entail.
You cannot, as the Australian Government has discovered, merely strip citizenship from law breakers as easily as many here desire. Once acquired - either through birth or naturalisation - it is very difficult to remove. There are serious preconditions which must be met for such an action to be successful.
Multiculturalism - a settlement policy - supported by 85% of the Australian population. You lot have a very, very long way to turn that 'round, thankfully.
Multiculturalism works for the overwhelming of the majority of Australia's population, most of the time - exactly as does every other Government policy, no matter which party is currently holding Federal Government. Those that break the law deserve whatever punishment the courts hand down to them. Your whinging, moaning and carping, merely demonstrates how out of touch with the majority of the population you are.

Australians expect immigrants to become AUSTRALIANS, otherwise why don't they stay where they were born?Multiculturalism, the view that cultures, races, and ethnicities, particularly those of minority groups, deserve special acknowledgement of their differences within a dominant political culture.
Sure, they can continue to eat their own type of food, listen to their own type of music, speak their own language - at HOME. However, the language in Australia is ENGLISH and they have to learn that to fit in.
The immigrants who came here in the 1950s did just that. They also learned ENGLISH and brought their "culture" here, started their little shops to teach us about Italian, Greek and so forth food. There were Muslims in these immigrants and Mosques were built for them. They also became AUSTRALIANS and brought up their children as such because that actually WANTED to be AUSSIES.
I can't see that happening since Multiculturalism. It has split the community. That is very sad.

How do you measure if an immigrant has assimilated sufficiently, in your view, Neferti? Do you have an assimilationometer? Do you they have to talk like an Australian? Do they have follow Aussie Rules/Rugby League/Union? Do they have to dress like an Australian? Do they have to eat like an Australian?Neferti~ wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 5:53 pmAustralians expect immigrants to become AUSTRALIANS, otherwise why don't they stay where they were born?Multiculturalism, the view that cultures, races, and ethnicities, particularly those of minority groups, deserve special acknowledgement of their differences within a dominant political culture.

The reality is that migrants assimilate at their own rate and in their own ways. No matter how much you display your Xenophobia, it will just make most migrants dig their heels in deeper and fight against everything you're trying to impose on them, Neferti.
Multiculturalism allows migrants to assimilate at their own rate and in their own way. Their culture is just as valuable as White, Anglo-Saxon/Celtic Colonial culture, despite what you may believe. Without Multiculturalism, Australian society would be like that portrayed in Nino Carlotti's "They're a weird mob," boorish, meat and three veg and plain boring.
Australian society is now cosmopolitan, we have adopted the Italian al fresco style of eating, we have great Italian/Greek/Turkish coffees, we have adopted Thai/Vietnamese/Cambodian food. Walk down the aisle of your Woolies, your Coles, your IGA, we are all richer because of Multiculturalism.
