The more he lies to the "ignorant who know"?
And you may want to check the polls, his support has not been growing for a looooooong time. It is in the dumpster.
His political victories are more a matter of personal will (which he has in spades) and superior political strategy.

The Man from Boys Town wrote:The Republican candidates understand this effect -- both Palin and McCain have been exposed as liars yet continue to repeat the same lies... but couldn't you say that Obama is on the other end of this effect by overestimating voters?
Both camps have went negative and lied, from Obama's scrubbing his initial criticism of the surge from his web site, his false claims Mac wanted to fight in Iraq 100 years, to one ad so disgraceful even his VP pick Ego Joe said it should not be run.
The difference is Obama is a more effective hypocrit, he authorises but usually personally stays well away from his own mud so that he can remain ever the trancendant one.

Bush was re-elected in 04 even after it became clear the advice he ignored (that the US would become stuck in Iraq) was correct; millions of Americans were happy to stand behind Bush as he repeated his lies.

Yoda Dunning-Kruger was my English Lit tutor. I followed his advice and the farce is with me.

If you read his autobiography he was dead long before he died.
