It's not 'debate' when people become overly emotional and hysterical. It's what many of us have been trying to tell you about the Extinction Rebellion.
You are off topic BO. Take that discussion to the correct thread...
Making comparisons is not off topic.

All that butt hurt from the other side of the Earth? You need to learn to relax a little. If you don't like my government, tough titty. I try really hard to not talk bad about your governments over there because I realize that I'm a visitor and don't have a dog in that hunt. You enjoy yourself and I'll see you around
That’s a very odd attitude to take on a political forum. Do you mean we shouldn’t express negative opinions on things like apartheid, the way Israel is treating the Palestinians, Brexit, etc., just because they’re not taking place here?
You express whatever opinion you want. My attitude is that I can't change your opinion, but I don't have to agree with it and will speak my mind if I feel like it. I was just responding to your rant.

Are you calling ME that? Overly emotional? Hysterical? Because I disagree with Trump’s policies? Is that what this place has become?

And how dare you apologise for me SC? How bloody presumptuous and patronising. I’m entitled to my opinions, as is everyone on here. At least I thought they were. What sort of autocracy is this? You’re not interested in people’s expressing different opinions from one another? How can you have a debate if they don’t?

Very disappointing and disillusioning.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, obviously, and no-one has said you are not entitled to yours but if you lash out you need to brace for being lashed back. It's what forums are all about and you need a thick skin to survive. I even asked you questions re your opinions. *shrug

You called me nasty and implied I was homophobic in another topic merely because I criticised the bad behaviour of a couple of gay men. It wasn't their 'gayness' I was commenting on it was their behaviour. I didn't freak out though and merely tried to explain the reasoning behind my comments in the hope you would see it for what it was ... and you did ... and kudos to you for doing so.

People either tune out or defend when they feel they are being attacked. That's all I am saying. Type isn't always easy.

I accept the mistake I made about the Block contestants, and apologise for my comments. However, I will not stand for someone apologising for what I say, and I stand by my response that it’s insulting and patronising.

I also don’t accept that expressing a strong opinion is being “overly emotional” (by whose standards?) or “hysterical”. That’s ad hominem rubbish, and I stand by my comments that this forum is disappointingly far fallen from the vibrant, entertaining and often amusing place it used to be.

I’m still wondering where the members who made it like that are - or is it some sort of secret?

I don't mind a good rant... All the best thinkers rant. Voltaire and Socrates were renowned for their rants... Oh and scientist are most often up for a rant. I rant! Such a shame that the forum fobs off a good rant as unworthy of consideration.

Yeah, nah.
And then there are people like Sprint who lack passion and verve.
