We’re huddled in a bathroom. We are under a tornado warning. It is on the ground 5 miles from my house. There is hail and lightning all around.
Wow! Please be safe.

I haven't heard of any damage from our tornado. It may have touched down in an empty field. Reporting is spotty in remote areas at night. The tornado on the news was about 40 miles North of me.

Scary stuff and I am glad you are all ok. Aren't you supposed to go down into the basement?

We don't have many basements in this area. The soil is too unstable and basements are very expensive. We went to my son's bathroom. It has no exterior walls and the walls are tiled and have plumbing pipes inside them for stability. My son in Kansas has a full basement. You can buy and install storm shelters.

I have a friend in Abilene, Kansas and I know he has more tornadoes than I would ever care to encounter. I didn't think of the different soils and their stability.

Makes sense about the bathroom and I guess you guys have things sorted if you experience them enough. We don't really have those experiences in my part of Aus and I am not sorry about that lol.

I’ve only seen one tornado in my life while I lived in Clovis NM. I had a storm cellar in that house. I was driving home from work and saw it from a distance. It was beautiful and in open plains.

My father has survived 2 tornadoes. His home was damaged in 1957 in a large tornado near Dallas Love Field. In 1984, work was hard to find for my Dad’s business. He was home for a few days and saw a tornado. He dove behind a couch at the last second when he saw it out a window. The tornado started at my next door neighbor’s house 5 meters away and began ripping roofs off of houses. Some debris went through our roof. My dad was able to go back to work fixing storm damaged neighbor homes. I was in high school.

Trying to read some online news and it just gives me a headache. Once upon a time journalists could spell or, if they couldn't, that's why they had editors. Nowadays? Sheesh!!

Two examples from just two articles ...
A 25-year-old man from Northern Island has been arrested and a murder investigation has been launched.
Ummmm it's Northern Ireland.
Chris was thought to be roughly ten-years-old and his careers believe he died of old age after showing no signs of being unhealthy.
I assumed this one was just a typo until in the next paragraph there was more of the same ...
The owners say despite being a celebrity for his fleece, his careers said Chris was more than his appearance.
It's an affront really!

Blame the lack of editors who actually edit what the journalists report, Black Orchid. Oh, and of course, blame the Journos for not understanding how to turn auto-correct off on whatever device they are filing their story on and not bothering to check it before they file it.

I was driving home from my niece's house last night and saw a house fire. This was a 2 story house completely engulfed in flames. There were several firetrucks on the scene and people watching, so I kept moving. The house was on a small 2 lane country road and on a lot of land. I hope the family made it out, because that house was uninhabitable when I drove by.
