People weren't interested in gun rights, they were appalled at the ongoing story of gun massacres. People were interested in Vietnam - their sons could be called upon to serve there. People are concerned with Climate Change. Some people may be annoyed at Extinction Rebellion, the majority are interested in what they are saying.

I think Black Orchard has a point many are being turned away from the cause due to the actions of the protests. It matters not the merit.Nom De Plume wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 11:16 amSeriously BO, this cause has merit... Real merit... The kind of merit that justified the suffragettes' making a public nuisance through civil disobedience. Biodiversity matters. This extinction event that we are in the midst of is worthy of fighting for the sake of everyone!

Just like the Suffragette's alienated the public back in the day, but that didn't make the cause any less worthy.Fred wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 4:02 pmI think Black Orchard has a point many are being turned away from the cause due to the actions of the protests. It's not about the worthiness of a cause it's about how it is relayed. From Fred's link ...
Shutting down emergency care at hospitals? Sorry, it's like those people trying to promote something while you are walking along the street. If they are in your face and hysterical I keep walking but if they are polite and respectful I am much more inclined to listen. Once people get abusive, disruptive, disrespectful or hysterical I tend to tune out to them and I am sure I am not alone.Extinction Rebellion has vowed to shut down Westminster in a protest that will be five times bigger than that seen in April.
The action could disrupt emergency care at St Thomas’s hospital, activists admitted, and they are planning to fill all of the Met’s police cells by refusing to co-operate with officers and to accept bail.
It is feared that the protest, which if successful will close two of central London’s main bridges, will also wreak havoc on the transport network and businesses.
Mr Shapps told The Telegraph: “Disrupting ordinary workers from getting to work is unlikely to win over hearts and minds and will do damage to the economy and people's livelihoods.
"I am concerned that it will potentially turn people against an important cause since it's this Government which has taken a global lead by legislating to reach net zero."

Yes, chalk and cheese. But no matter how worthy the cause, how great or how bad, if people don't engage because they don't agree with the way you are presenting your cause. It matters nothing the worthiness of the cause, it won't succeed.Nom De Plume wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 4:34 pmJust like the Suffragette's alienated the public back in the day, but that didn't make the cause any less worthy.Fred wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 4:02 pmI think Black Orchard has a point many are being turned away from the cause due to the actions of the protests. Do you all care more about an uninterrupted commute to your place of wage slavery, or the current extinction event unravelling?
You only need to do a windscreen test to know that insects are diminishing. There are no where near the amount of bugs collected on a country drive as was in the past.

Again, if the people aren't going to accept your message, then no it won't work. Even people who are for the cause are saying the same thing. The movement is needing the support of the people, while alienating them.Nom De Plume wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 11:04 amThat was what women would say to the suffragettes. History proved them wrong!

Do we care about getting our daily activites done with minimal upheaval, or do we care about an event that people demand we should accept is occurring because they mislead and flat out lie about what the science.
Don't know where your driving, but I notice MORE insects on the screen. BUT before you go complaining about who is right and wrong. The science tips increase in insect activity, NOT a decrease.Nom De Plume wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 11:04 am

Of which??? YOUR claim of diminishing insects due to climate change??? That was YOUR claim and YOU should support.
BUT
Are you demanding my claim of evidence of windscreen covered in insects???
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2 ... 143058.htmBut new research is showing that climate change is expected to accelerate rates of crop loss due to the activity of another group of hungry creatures -- insects. In a paper published Aug. 31 in the journal Science, a team led by scientists at the University of Washington reports that insect activity in today's temperate, crop-growing regions will rise along with temperatures.
or maybe
https://www.fs.usda.gov/ccrc/topics/ins ... ate-changeHigher temperatures can also play a role in insect population success and potential range expansion.
maybe
https://phys.org/news/2018-08-global-insects-crops.htmlCrop losses for critical food grains will increase substantially as the climate warms, as rising temperatures increase the metabolic rate and population growth of insect pests, according to new research.
Now if you want photos of my windscreen, I am sorry but so far your claim is failing. Perhaps, IF you can post some support of evidence of your claim. That your windscreen test is actually correct and that it is indicative of climate change AND that man has influence over that climate change I will bow to your demand and provide photographic evidence of the front of several vehicles covered with the entrails of insects just for your edification…

“This blood “sport” makes most people cringe and leaves them heartbroken for the innocent animals. Daily mail describes how she lured a bear into a trap, causing the bear to suffer before killing it. “She fires the weapon from a safe vantage point up a tree. The bear winces in pain before staggering off. With a big grin, she then turns to the camera, clenches her fist and says: ‘Awesome.’ After that, she follows the bear’s blood trail before posing with the dead animal, gushing: ‘Unreal, look at this guy.”
