So, what does that translate to as far as political beliefs mean to you?

MY political beliefs? To be quite honest, I only vote because I have to. The only reason I am still here is because of some of the posters, you feel that you know them after 10+ years. Besides, I have nothing much else to do so I pop in here when TV gets boring and .....

Why do you come here?

I come here 'cause it amuses me to come here, Neferti just as it does you. However, I have a serious interest in politics. Is is literally, the best game in town. Endlessly amusing and endlessly entertaining. That doesn't mean I cannot, unlike you, explain what I believe in though. So what do you believe in? Even Tex has managed that task and quite well, I admit. You? You're a mystery, Neferti.

It's absolutely pointless for me to comment, Brian, because you already have me labelled as an "arche-Tory". No matter how I comment you will selectively find something to criticise me over eg I have said a dozen times that Gladys Liu should be sacked and that I don't agree with how Morrison handled yet you keep accusing me of 'ignoring' it.

So don't hold your breath as I don't intend spending eternity arguing with you about what you think I say rather than what I actually do say.

I believe I am very much just to the left of centre in my political views.
I don't believe in Communism.
I support Socialism (and yes there is a difference between the two). I am more of a Fabian Socialist. I believe in a mixed-economy, with society providing a social safety net for those in need, an adequate old age pension, socialised medicine and help for the disabled. Free education at all levels, for all. We need to protect the poor, the environment and of course, ourselves with a strong defence force. We need to protect workers' rights and allow Unions to flourish. I believe in allowing free enterprise to flourish with adequate taxation and regulation to support it all. I know this all runs counter to what you believe I believe in, Black Orchid but hey, them's the breaks.

I won't hold my breath, Black Orchid 'cause I don't expect you will reply - at all. I suspect you don't want to reply because you don't want to reveal what your real political thinking is, just as Neferti has bowed out. I haven't commented on anybody else's political views, except to seek more clarification. I won't comment on yours either. I am just interested to see what people believe is what they believe in, nothing more.

I suspect your views aren't extreme-right at all, Black Orchid. I suspect we are closer than what you like to admit.
