Greta Thunberg
So basically she's on a book promotion tour. Her parents are pimping her.
Our House is on Fire: Scenes of a Family and a Planet in Crisis
by Malena Ernman, Greta Thunberg, Beata Thunberg, Svante Thunberg
This is the story of a family led to confront a crisis they had never foreseen. Aged eleven, their eldest daughter has stopped eating and speaking. Alongside diagnoses of autism and selective mutism, her parents slowly become aware of another source for her distress: her imperilled future on a rapidly heating planet.
Steered by her determination to understand the truth, the family begins to see the deep connections between their own and the planet's suffering. Against forces that try to silence them, disparaging them for being different, they discover ways to strengthen, heal, and act in the world. And then one day, fifteen-year-old Greta decides to go on strike. (less)

Her message is that the world is about to end. Kids who are prone to depression and anxiety will latch onto that and there will be a suicide death toll.

The book is a whole family affair it seems. Aren't the parents authors/singers/actors? Limelight hogs? 15 minutes of fame?
Anger just produces more anger and it seems to me that she is an indoctrinated and angry child who is being manipulated by her parents into making their own political arguments using her youth as a shield from criticism.
I don't think using the contorted face of a child yelling at world leaders "How dare you!" is the answer to anything and could only cause more anger which could cause more problems. It's also taking the focus off personal conservation and environmental efforts and laying it all at the feet of corporations and governments.
Don't use your kids as political pawns!! And yes I see it as child abuse too.

Re: Greta Thunberg
This is all wrong. I shouldn’t be up here,” Thunberg began. Unfortunately, these were Thunberg’s only accurate lines from her entire appearance.
“You have stolen my dreams, and my childhood, with your empty words,” the 16-year-old continued.
Given she’s now become a global celebrity who gets to sail around the world and address the UN, Greta’s stolen dreams must’ve been pretty lofty.
People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing,” Thunberg went on, working herself into a state of ridiculous distress.
“We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money.”

I do wonder if she is paid by appearance.... its worth knowing dont you think?
we know all our celebrity friends who fly around the world mostly in private planes. dont do it for nothing..
watch David Attenboroughs video..he maintains we have to act within 10 years TO REVERSE everything...
is he kidding or what?..... min you like all of them Greta included they never hint at what they want us all to do......I guess its all too hard..

Religious fanaticism from the followers of the Church of Climatology. Nothing to see here, move along.

I agree. It’s the parents duty teach emotional intelligence. That includes what constitutes appropriate behaviour. Otherwise, the girl herself?.. Immature, hyperbole. Not impressed.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 4:57 pmThe book is a whole family affair it seems. Aren't the parents authors/singers/actors? Limelight hogs? 15 minutes of fame?

Oh, dearie, dearie, me. Completely unable or unwilling to argue the issue, instead people attack the messenger.
Climate Change is real. Time to deal with it is now, not keep on kicking it down the road and ignoring it's very real effects.

Re: Greta Thunberg
It's all about how the message is purveyed.
Where are her solutions? She points accusatory fingers and scowls at world leaders with hysterical rhetoric of "How dare you!" and a contorted face. Her yacht is made of carbon fibre ... ooops. Her 'crew' are flying over to sail it back ... another ooops.
She knows as much about climate change as my cat does and if you think a scowling teenager appearing to have a permanent temper tantrum will advance the cause you are dreaming.
She is consumed with damnation, hellfire and obliteration but nothing else. There is absolutely no hope in her messages and, in my mind, a good messenger not only needs to purvey hope but they also need to be 100% tied to their cause. She claims she shamed her parents into becoming vegans
Her 'message' will only resonate with children and those of a like mind.

Yet she has no problem with carbon fibre and flying around the globe etc leaving her own carbon footprint?“I kept telling them that they were stealing our future and they cannot stand up for human rights while living that lifestyle, so then they decided to make those changes. My dad is vegan, my mum, she tries — she’s 90 per cent vegan. I made them feel so guilty.”
Her 'message' will only resonate with children and those of a like mind.
