Today, I think it is only jewellers and gun shop owners who may carry concealed handguns while in their shops.
I doubt that.
I think only registered, armed security guards can carry firearms for defense.

It’s not so much that the criminals rights are forfeit, but that the homeowner gets the benefit of all doubt. If a 90 year old man in a wheelchair breaks into my house and I walk towards him with lights on and see that he is unarmed and execute him, I’m going to prison for murder and rightfully so. If I have any doubts that my home intruder may have a weapon and the ability to kill me, I have no obligation to take a chance and trust that he won’t harm me. This is where i keep my mouth shut and call my lawyer.
As you said, the Judicial system is weighted in favour of the home owner. Downunder, the Judicial system is fair and not weighted to anybody. It appears fairer that way to me. I do not believe that anybody has the right to kill anybody else, no matter what they are doing, without facing a Judge and jury.
Then I hope you trust your friendly neighborhood home invaders not to take anything you can’t get back. And it’s not the judicial system that is weighted. It’s the law.
Anybody who breaks into a home to rape or steal deserves whatever happens to them from the homeowner when it comes to self defense.

Absolutely! I have a friend who was a victim of an armed bank robbery once. She was never the same afterwards. Breaking into someone's home is a worse violation. Everyone should have the right to feel safe in their own home from outsiders.

I once read some crime statistics for different countries, which stated that whereas the US homicide rate is extremely high, their rates of home burglary were among the lowest in the world. I presume that Texas was the state which wad the lowest rate of housebreaking and home invasion in the USA ?
Here in Australia about twenty years ago, we started importing black Africans as refugees and migrants. One US professor at NSW university wrote an article to a newspaper saying that the Australian crime rates would skyrocket for doing this. That American got sacked. Of course, he war right and Melbourne in particular is experiencing violent black crime by African's that absolutely shocked them. Home invasions in particular became so widespread, that Melbourne's sports stores actually sold right out of baseball bats because of the frightened residents buying them up to protect their families.
Another consequence was "white flight", where frightened families from Melbourne moved a couple of thousand miles away to Queensland to get away from the cultural enrichment of Melbourne by black Africans.

I don't know where Texas ranks in home invasion and carjacking statistics, but it doesn't happen very often. I credit that to laws that allow Texans to defend themselves and allowing them the tools to do it. A few years ago, a thug tried to steal a woman's car with her child still in it at a gas station. She dived into the car as he drove away and retrieved her pistol from the console and shot him. Anybody in Texas who can legally own a gun is allowed to keep that gun concealed in their car for self defense. A car is treated just like a home in that anybody who forces their way into an occupied vehicle can justifiably be met with deadly force.
Inviting large groups of people who are unable or unwilling to assimilate to the local culture is bad news. Blacks were beginning to assimilate and be accepted in America, but government welfare stepped in and eliminated the need for the traditional family. It hit the black culture the hardest because they were the poorest. The government took the place as the breadwinner in too many homes. Too many black men abdicated their responsibilities as husbands and fathers. This has lead to a lack of discipline and generations of welfare and crime. I have several black friends who work hard and smart and are very successful, but they are a minority in their culture and often alienated by their peers. Many blacks in America are back on the plantation. Instead of working in the fields, they vote for leftists to give them more handouts. They will always be poor, but their government master takes care of them.
Australia is behind America in that your problem is newer than ours. America is still a more dangerous place at the moment, but with your current attitudes on immigration and self defense and not allowing citizens to protect themselves from crime, I see this getting worse. I hope I'm wrong, but that's how I see it.

Australian law is an ass of biblical proportions
This is because those who administer the law are as corrupt as the criminals, so they are not going to build a rod with which to beat them.
But law is not justice
Justice does cost, and there are ways to get justice
It's just that it's considered illegal.
But hey, two wrongs make a right,
Someone does me wrong
Eventually, in good time, I will get even.
Worked for me so far.
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream
